Summary: The University of Illinois Springfield is seeking a Program Director to support the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Finance and Administration (VCFA). This position plays a key role in coordinating administrative and operational functions, overseeing Business Personnel in various colleges/administrative units, standardizing business processes, and facilitating financial transactions while fostering campus partnerships. The Program Director works under general supervision and contributes to the strategic and day-to-day success of VCFA and University of Illinois Springfield campus initiatives.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Lead onboarding and training initiatives for Business Administrative Associates (BAAs) and related roles across campus, ensuring alignment with institutional goals and operational excellence. Design, implement, and oversee standardized business operations frameworks to drive consistency, efficiency, and compliance across administrative units. Perform financial transactional duties such as purchasing, invoice processing, and payables in accordance with university policies. Serve as the primary liaison between the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Finance and Administration (VCFA) and campus stakeholders, facilitating strategic partnerships and effective communication. Supervise BAAs and similar classifications within various colleges/administrative units, including performance management and professional development. Contribute to institutional planning and long-term strategic initiatives, providing leadership in shaping administrative priorities and resource allocation. Deliver high-impact management reports, data analyses, and operational insights to inform administrative decision-making. Represent the VCFA on committees, serving as a key point of contact for internal and external stakeholders. Oversee recruitment, onboarding, and workforce planning for professional and support staff, ensuring talent alignment with strategic objectives. Provide administrative support to the VCFA, including meeting facilitation, strategic communications, and coordination of special projects. Assist with leading budget preparation and financial operations of the unit, ensuring fiscal responsibility and alignment with university priorities.
Minimum Qualifications: 1. Bachelor's degree. 2. A total of three (3) years (36 months) in education, training and/or work experience in the area of specialization inherent to the position. (Note: Master's Degree in an area consistent with the duties of the position may be substituted for one (1) year of work experience. 3. Based on position requirements, additional education, training, and/or work experience in the area of specialization inherent to the position, may be required.
Additional education, training and/or work experience in the area of specialization:
Specialty Factors: An additional 4 years of experience in public higher education in the State of Illinois.
Preferred Qualifications: Process improvement planning and implementation experience. Experience in higher education administration or public sector finance. Demonstrated ability to lead teams and train staff effectively. Strong knowledge of university financial systems and procurement processes. Excellent communication, organizational, and analytical skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and work collaboratively across units.
