Prime Responsibilities and Major Factors in Evaluating Performance:
1.Function as the primary shared US Operations technical resource in the Assessment and Control of Product Dimensions.
a.Assist Product Engineers in the interpretation and understanding of customer blueprint dimensional requirements.
b.Provide guidance in determining appropriate dimension inspection requirements to assure adequate control.
c.Assure first article layout inspections are done accurately and with appropriate quantities of hardware inspected to provide an adequate level of statistical understanding, even when that inspection level exceeds minimum customer requirements.
2.Participate in the training of Product Engineers regarding the above issues, and, at the discretion of the Product Engineering Manager, direct or assist them with specific programs while supervising the technical adequacy of the analyses they perform.
3.Assure that the organization is aware of and implements new measurement and/or data interpretation and assessment technologies that, following full evaluation, are deemed appropriate to support the needs of our Division and our customers.
Additional Responsibilities:
1.Independently perform specific assignments that may be beyond the technical capability or understanding of other individuals within the organization in the areas of dimensional analysis.
2.Communicate effectively with a wide variety of individuals, including engineering personnel, shop floor workers, customer technical representatives, and occasional individuals with language barriers to simple technical communication.
3.Perform other functions as directed by Division management.
4.Have an understanding of all tooling requirements and ownership and participate in all tooling audits.
5.Ensure that all activities and operations are performed in compliance with the Company's Code of Conduct.
Minimum Acceptable Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in engineering, Associate Degree in Drafting Technology, 10 years equivalent Metrology experience or possess a highly unique set of Metrology skills that will advance the technical aspect of the Metrology Department.
2. Demonstrated sophistication in the arenas of blueprint understanding, dimensional measurement, and data interpretation, as well as an understanding of the computer equipment and software required to support such functions. Experience using Avail and PC DMIS software is required.
3. Proficient in CAD modeling (Unigraphics, Solidworks, ProEngineer, AutoCad, or equivalent)
4. Must possess effective oral communication, technical writing and organizational skills.
5. Computer competency in general MS Office applications Microsoft Excel and Word.
6. Knowledge of Metrology concepts, Advance Mathematics skills and Statistical Process Control or statistical analysis tools.
7. Must be able to develop, comprehend and utilize Metrology skills such as Manual Inspection methods, CMM Programming, 3D Optical scanning systems and understand Calibration concepts and methodology. 8. Vision requirement of 20/20 or better in at least one eye, per the J1 standard as well as color perception.
