Organization Details THE SALVATION ARMY HAWAIIAN & PACIFIC ISLANDS DIVISION Job Description Department: Finance Position Title: General Accountant Supervisor: Divisional Finance Director (DFD) FLSA Status: Full-Time, Non-Exempt Date: April 2025 Hourly Rate: $25.00 to $28.00 Job Summary Perform accounting functions including recording journal entries, reconciling accounts, maintaining vendor information, and responding to internal and external inquiries. Assist supervisor in other finance duties as needed. Essential Functions Administrative Functions: Provide administrative support to the DFD and the Finance Department. Prepare or assist with the preparation of scheduled and ad hoc statistical and narrative reports, including analysis and forecasting. Handle morning mail duties, including scanning checks into Deluxe. Receive and secure walk-in checks, cash, gift cards, etc., for processing. Perform occasional bank runs for the Finance Department. Assist in overseeing banking and institutional portals. Coordinate with bank contacts for online banking and account management. Support TSAMM setups and updates. Maintain DHQ Physical Inventory records. Assist officers and administrators with forms and requisitions. Order supplies for the finance department. Finance Functions: Record journal entries and perform account reconciliations. Assist with monthly closings and internal/external audits. Maintain knowledge of accounting practices and ensure internal controls. Skills and Technical Knowledge Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business preferred, or equivalent experience. 2-3 years of accounting/financial or administrative experience required. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint). Valid Hawaii driver’s license. Willingness to travel off-island as needed.
