Aide - Environmental Services Support (Lift-Floor-Trash-Linen)

Position Overview
This role is essential for maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary environment within a healthcare facility located in the Pacific Northwest region. The Environmental Services Support Aide is responsible for the collection and proper disposal of medical solid waste and trash, as well as the distribution and collection of linens. Additionally, this position involves floor care maintenance and general housekeeping duties in patient care areas, administrative offices, and public spaces.
Key Responsibilities Ensure a safe and clean working environment, adhering to unit-based safety and infection control protocols. Safely move heavy equipment, bins, and receptacles as needed. Collect biohazard waste and trash throughout the facility and dispose of them in designated receptacles. Collect and distribute linens efficiently. Maintain and clean floors according to organizational standards and schedules. Relocate patient beds, furniture, boxes, desks, supplies, and other equipment as assigned. Clean and maintain assigned areas, ensuring safety measures such as proper use of wet floor signs are followed. Use appropriate personal protective equipment and practice proper hand hygiene. Understand disaster roles and responsibilities related to the position. Clean discharge and occupied rooms following departmental training checklists. Provide professional and courteous customer service at all times. Maintain compliance with hospital requirements including annual TB skin tests, fit testing, and other mandatory trainings. Qualifications
Ability to push and pull a minimum of 750 lbs. and lift at least 75 lbs. Knowledge of proper floor care, trash collection, linen distribution, and safe lifting techniques. Experience handling cleaning solutions and chemicals safely. Completion of on-the-job training related to cleaning equipment and health and sanitation standards. Minimum of one year of housekeeping or janitorial experience preferred. Ability to read and understand written instructions and labels in English. Effective communication skills with supervisors, healthcare staff, and environmental services team members. For surgical services areas: experience with stripping, waxing, buffing floors according to AORN and healthcare environmental cleaning guidelines, and familiarity with floor scrubber/buffing equipment and cleaning agents used in operating rooms. Education
High school diploma or GED preferred. Licenses
Valid driver's license required for evening shift positions within six months of hire or transfer.
