Software Guidance & Assistance, Inc., (SGA), is searching for an
IT Project Manager - Virtualization
for a
CONTRACT
assignment with one of our premier
Financial Services
clients in
lower Manhattan
, NYC.
Hybrid: 2-3 days/week in office (and whenever necessary).
Responsibilities • Lead end-to-end
project management
for
virtualization
initiatives, including planning, design, solutioning, testing, deployment, and stabilization. • Partner with infrastructure, network, application, and end-user technology teams to deliver
virtualized trading floor and corporate solutions
. • Gather and translate business and technical requirements into
detailed project plans
with clear milestones, deliverables, and dependencies. • Drive the
solutioning process
-evaluate virtualization approaches (e.g., VDI, thin client, virtual desktops, application streaming) to meet performance, security, and regulatory needs. • Oversee vendor engagement, RFPs, and contract negotiations with providers of virtualization and related technologies. • Ensure
operational readiness
: handover to support teams, establish documentation, monitoring, and DR/business continuity integration. • Manage project budgets, timelines, and reporting, escalating risks and issues as appropriate. • Coordinate testing and cutover strategies to minimize disruption to trading and corporate users. • Communicate project status and updates to stakeholders, including executive leadership, traders, and business managers.
Required Skills •
10+ years
of IT Project Management experience • Delivery experience in financial services. • Strong background in
virtualization technologies
(e.g., VMware Horizon, Citrix Virtual Apps/Desktops, Microsoft Azure Virtual Desktop, thin client solutions). • Demonstrated experience delivering
trading floor virtualization projects
, including low-latency performance tuning, security, and compliance considerations. • Hands-on understanding of infrastructure (servers, storage, networking), cloud integration, and end-user computing. • Familiarity with
ITIL processes
, disaster recovery planning, and operational readiness practices. • Ability to work in high-pressure, fast-paced trading environments. • Knowledge of
regulatory and compliance frameworks
impacting financial services IT. •
Excellent stakeholder management
and communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technology concepts into business terms.
Preferred Skills • Experience with
capital markets environments
(front, middle, and back office) • Proven track record managing
corporate function virtualization
(finance, HR, operations, etc.) alongside high-performance trading environments. • Strong problem-solving skills, with a balance of
strategic thinking
and
tactical execution
. • PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent project management certification
