Scope:
Houlihan Lokey is looking for an intern to join the firm's growing Corporate Development team. Over the past decade, the firm's bull-bear balanced platform has worked as designed and the Company has grown over 12% per year since its IPO. As such, effectuating greater operational efficiencies and strategic acquisitions have also become an increasingly important part of Houlihan Lokey's growth strategy.
The Corporate Development team reports directly to the CEO and CFO of the firm, while working in partnership with the heads of the various business lines at HL. This role has the opportunity to be a contributor in effectuating strategic and operational efficiencies and changes across the firm, in addition to executing on acquisitions globally. The intern will be involved in multiple aspects of acquisitions, certain areas of operations and will be conducting various analyses and preparing presentations on corporate initiatives for the firm's executives / senior management.
Responsibilities: Assist the Corporate Development team on a broad array of acquisition-related activities and other special projects. Support the Corporate Development team's origination efforts, which include the development of acquisition target searches and profiles, conducting preliminary evaluation of industry participants for categorization and prioritization within HL's pipeline, and tracking the team's pipeline activities and maintenance of the team's CRM database (including extensive use of Salesforce and Pitchbook). Aid in the Corporate Development team's post-acquisition performance tracking by analyzing precedent transactions and creating reports that are shared with management and leveraged by the team during deal execution. Develop and manage databases, processes, templates, and reports that drive efficiency and productivity for acquisitions and other strategic projects. Specifically, certain projects include precedent transaction databases, acquisition target lists, and presentation templates, to name a few. Qualifications:
Must be a junior or senior in a Bachelor's degree program, preferably in Finance, Accounting, or Economics. Previous professional internship experience is preferred. A desire to pursue a career in investment banking or finance is preferred. A basic understanding of financial modeling and analysis commonly used in acquisition work, and general knowledge of relevant accounting principles. A candidate should possess strong written and verbal communication skills, as the Corporate Development team works closely and frequently with senior management. Proficient skills with Excel and understanding of PowerPoint and Word. Must have strong work ethic and be a self-starter.
