Elementary Teacher Position

2025-2026 School Year

POSITION: 4th Grade Elementary Teacher

REPORTS TO: Lisa Morford, Principal of Carrollton Elementary School

COMPENSATION: Per the Carrollton Education Association Master Agreement. Years of service will be considered.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Provide and utilize instructional plans, strategies, methods, materials, and techniques that best meet the needs of individual students and are congruent with Michigan State standards and the ethics of the profession.
  • Meet with parents on scheduled conference days, by phone or any other form of communication, etc., to discuss their student's educational needs.
  • Participates in teacher training, conferences, and workshops as required.
  • Maintain confidentiality of ALL students, parents, guardians, and staff information.
  • Builds strong relationships and has a positive attitude working with students, parents, other staff members, and community members who visit Carrollton Public Schools facilities or programs, and positively represent the district.
  • Willingness to improve and grow as an individual teacher and align with the District and School Improvement Plans.
  • Familiar with Assertive Discipline and willing to provide behavioral modification when needed to ensure a safe environment for students at all times.
  • Uses data to personalize learning
  • Designs engaging, collaborative, and inclusive learning experiences
  • Fosters student voice, agency, and ownership
  • All other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:

Must have a valid State of Michigan Elementary Teaching Certification
  • Endorsements in upper elementary grades and subject-area specialization preferred.
Commitment to student-centered instruction
  • Skilled at fostering student agency, voice, and ownership of learning
Possess strong classroom management and relationship-building skills.
  • Creates a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment that is grounded in positive behavior and supports restorative practices.
Must be a collaborative and reflective practitioner
  • Willingness to engage in professional learning, peer feedback, and continuous self-reflection to grow practices.
Proficient in Data-Informed Instruction
  • Uses formative and summative assessments to personalize learning and support academic growth for all students.
Must have technology integration skills
  • Leverages digital tools to enhance engagement
Have strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Leveraging digital tools to enhance engagement, collaboration, and creativity.
Must be flexible, growth-oriented with an innovative mindset
  • Embraces change, challenges traditional models, and seeks new approaches to elevate teaching and learning.
Must have the ability to work well with staff, parents, administration, and students.

Must be responsive to supervision and committed to continuous improvement.

Must have the ability to lift a minimum of 75 pounds.

Must satisfactorily pass:
  • Law enforcement background check with fingerprinting.
  • Personal and professional reference background check.

Must receive a satisfactory response to the P.A. 189 letter (Misconduct Law).
