Job Summary
Under the limited supervision of the Principal, the Educational Interpreter provides interpreting and instructional support for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Students; communicates using sign language, fingerspelling, natural gestures, and speech with students who are deaf and hard of hearing within the general education classroom, special day classroom and for other school related school activities including extracurricular activities. Educational Interpreters with an Emergency 30-Day Substitute Teaching Permit or Teaching Credential may be assigned to substitute in the absence of the primary teacher; Educational Interpreters are assigned to various instructional settings.

Desirable Qualifications:
Experience working with deaf and hard of hearing population Coursework in education, psychology, child development, classroom behavior management and/or Early Childhood Education Experience working with children Awareness of developmental levels in areas of instruction Knowledge of assistive listening devices including personal hearing aids Bachelor of Arts or Sciences Degree Emergency 30-Day Substitute Teaching Permit Teaching Credential Available Stipends:
$150 per month incentive for the skills of reading, writing, and speaking Spanish, as certified by MCOE $500 annual training incentive to employees who are requested and volunteer to participate in training for certification and willingness to administer emergency medications/procedures as defined by contract $50 stipend will be paid to an Educational Interpreters with an Emergency 30-Day Substitute Teaching Permit or Teaching Credential for each day of an assignment to substitute in the absence of the primary teacher
All foreign transcripts must be evaluated by a third party to determine the equivalent U.S. degree and major, and the Foreign Transcript Evaluation must be attached to your application before your application will be considered.
