The
Senior Professional Liability Claims Examiner
is responsible for investigating, evaluating, and resolving complex Professional Liability claims, including errors and omissions (E&O), legal malpractice, accountants, consultants, and other professional service providers. This individual will manage a caseload of high-severity claims from inception to conclusion, ensuring prompt and fair resolution while mitigating exposure and maintaining strong customer relationships.

$120,000 - $160,000/year Up to 10% target bonus based on company and personal performance Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree required; Juris Doctor (JD) or other advanced degree preferred but not required. 5-10+ years of Professional Liability (E&O) claims handling experience, preferably with an insurance carrier. Strong knowledge of professional liability coverage, policy forms, and applicable laws. Proven experience managing complex litigated claims and working with defense counsel. Excellent negotiation, analytical, and decision-making skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment. Adjuster's license(s) a plus (or willingness to obtain if required). Day-to-day:
The successful candidate will work with third party administrators, participate in client set-up meetings, attend mediations and trials, and assist in the risk selection process. They will also be responsible for identifying loss trends and resolving any claims or service issues that arise.
Responsibilities:
Handle a caseload of moderate to high-severity professional liability claims across multiple jurisdictions. Conduct thorough investigations including coverage analysis, liability and damages assessment, and evaluation of legal and contractual issues. Review and analyze claim reports, legal documents, expert opinions, and other relevant materials. Establish and maintain accurate reserves in accordance with company guidelines. Develop and execute strategic plans for effective claims resolution, including negotiation and settlement. Engage and oversee defense counsel, independent adjusters, and other vendors; provide clear direction and oversight. Maintain consistent and professional communication with insureds, brokers, attorneys, claimants, and internal stakeholders. Attend mediations, settlement conferences, and trials when necessary. Ensure timely and accurate documentation of claim activities in the claim system. Stay current with legal trends, policy forms, and regulatory changes within Professional Liability. Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior claims staff as needed.
