Position Summary:

The Core Systems Specialist is a key member of our Information Technology core systems team, with the expertise to serve as an administrator for multiple applications within the credit union. The ideal candidate is an advanced end user of business applications who has collaborated with application teams on projects and has programming coursework or training experience to support the development of custom automation scripts. This position offers excellent growth opportunities for an experienced professional ready to deepen their technical expertise in banking systems while contributing to process optimization and system administration.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES

Core System Administration & Support Application Management:

Develop expertise in credit union core banking systems and serve as administrator for multiple applications Technical Support:

Provide support for core applications across all organizational levels, troubleshooting complex issues and system configurations Vendor Liaison:

Serve as primary technical contact with core application vendors, managing relationships and coordinating system updates System Optimization:

Analyze current processes and recommend improvements to maximize system efficiency and user experience Development & Automation

Custom Scripting:

Develop automation scripts, interfaces, and reports to streamline business processes using various programming languages Requirements Gathering:

Work directly with business units to document process flows, gather technical requirements, and translate business needs into technical solutions Integration Projects:

Support implementation of new systems and enhancements, including system configuration, parameter setup, and third-party interfaces Report Development:

Create custom reports using SQL, Jaspersoft, or other reporting tools to meet departmental needs Process Improvement & Documentation

Business Analysis:

Evaluate existing processes and identify opportunities for automation and efficiency improvements Documentation:

Maintain comprehensive system documentation, user guides, and technical procedures Release Management:

Review vendor release notes for new functionality and assess potential business impact Project Support : Contribute to enterprise and cross-departmental initiatives as assigned Compliance & Security

Regulatory Compliance:

Ensure adherence to Bank Secrecy Act, AML, OFAC, and all applicable state and federal financial institution regulations Information Security:

Implement and maintain robust security measures for all core applications Data Integrity:

Monitor and maintain data accuracy across all systems Additional Responsibilities

Backup Coverage:

Serve as backup to other Core Systems team members as needed Continuous Learning:

Stay current with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS

Experience:

With Associate's Degree: 2-4 years of relevant technical experience With High School Diploma: 4+ years of relevant technical experience Required Knowledge:

Intermediate skills in SQL report writing Basic to intermediate understanding of network protocols and operating system configuration Basic to intermediate understanding of software development lifecycle and project management methodologies Basic programming/scripting abilities (Python, Java, JavaScript or similar) Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel Preferred Knowledge:

Experience with banking/credit union core systems (Symitar, Corelation, etc.) Experience with Microsoft Power Platform tools (Power Apps, Power BI, and Microsoft Fabric) Knowledge of document management systems Familiarity with digital banking platforms Experience with loan origination systems Understanding of business process automation tools Professional certifications in relevant technologies Skills/Abilities:

Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities. Ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical staff. Excellent documentation and process discipline. Ability to work with auditors, regulators, and external partners. Collaborative, team-oriented mindset with a focus on service excellence. Working Conditions:
