Position Purpose:
To support the day-to-day operations of the Woodland Park Bookstore, reporting to the Café & Bookstore Manager. Assist in curating a relevant mix of AWM, Charis, and complementary products and resources, and maintain merchandising and POS readiness. Coordinate shift coverage and communicate scheduling needs; provide on-shift guidance and basic training for staff, interns, and volunteers. Monitor sales activity and expenses tied to product sales; complete deposits and submit updates for manager review. Ensure students, partners, guests, and staff receive hospitable, solutions-oriented service, and collaborate with other departments to meet event and campus needs.
Due to the shift requirements, Day School students will not be considered at this time. Alumni and Hybrid students are encouraged to apply.
Essential Duties: Assist in curating and maintaining a relevant product mix that supports Charis' mission, providing front-line feedback to management. Lead daily merchandising on the floor to ensure efficient placement, arrangement, and presentation of products to enhance the shopping experience and facilitate sales. Support planning and executing seasonal or thematic displays for events, based on guidance from management. Execute opening/closing checklists; set up registers, count tills, and prep deposit envelopes for Manager verification. Schedule all employees, interns, and volunteers as needed, including during major week-long events throughout the year. Run cash register and other Bookstore functions as required when staffing is insufficient. Coordinate volunteers and interns for assistance during regular and event hours. Receive and unpack shipments; verify against purchase orders, price-tag items, and stage for shelving; flag discrepancies to the Manager. Help ensure sales systems run smoothly and follow cash-handling procedures in alignment with ministry policies. Maintain positive vendor communication and coordinate orders as directed to secure quality products and pricing. Share timely sales, revenue, and expense updates with the management team as requested. Assist with preparing basic accounting and inventory counts and submit reports as required. Follow established standard operating procedures (SOPs) and suggest improvements to strengthen operations and handoffs. Lead by example on the floor; help orient, train, and schedule staff and volunteers as needed. Champion an atmosphere of hospitality, modeling excellent customer interactions as each encounter is a ministry opportunity. Observe and communicate opportunities to improve financial margin through sell-through, placement, and promotions. Track key metrics on shifts and propose adjustments to improve results. Other duties as assigned by the Café and Bookstore Manager Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must have problem-solving skills. Basic mathematics and accounting knowledge are necessary. Able to train and coach team members. Able to lead a team in planning and executing initiatives and strategies to improve the operation Strong attention to detail. Must have a high level of professionalism and discretion when dealing with sensitive information. Must have Microsoft Office experience (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint). Exercise vision and sound judgment in decision-making. Excellent organizational, administrative, and time management skills. Strong interpersonal skills. Creative, self-starter. Requirements:
Must have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Must sign the Statement of Faith. Must be service-oriented and have demonstrated abilities in establishing and maintaining essential work relationships. A high school diploma or equivalent education is required. Charis Bible College graduate preferred. Must pass all required checks. Experience:
Customer service experience in a store or hospitality setting preferred. Minimum of 1-2 years of supervisory experience. Experience in money management.
