Role Summary
Seeking an accomplished Data Architect to lead enterprise data architecture initiatives across mortgage, banking, or financial services. The ideal candidate will bring deep experience in mortgage data flows, modern data warehousing (Snowflake, S3), ELT engineering, and multi-platform integration-supporting both on-prem and AWS databases-while advancing analytics and BI capabilities (PowerBI, Tableau).
Key Responsibilities
Architect and implement scalable, compliant enterprise data solutions for mortgage portfolios, originating, servicing, and collateral management. Lead data modeling (conceptual, logical, physical), designing schemas for structured, semi-structured, and unstructured financial datasets. Build and optimize modern data warehouses (especially Snowflake) and data lakes (S3), driving migration and integration of legacy platforms. Oversee ELT/ETL pipelines and batch/real-time ingestion using best-in-class data engineering practices. Manage integration and interoperability of cloud (AWS RDS, CosmosDB, MariaDB, Postgres, NoSQL) and on-prem databases (SQL Server, Oracle, etc.). Ensure alignment with BI/reporting tools (PowerBI, Tableau) and support analytics, dashboards, and regulatory reporting. Drive data governance, security, quality, privacy, and compliance across the environment. Collaborate with business stakeholders, engineering, data science, and analytics teams to translate requirements into robust, scalable architecture. Develop enterprise data standards, best practices, and documentation for optimal performance and maintainability. Lead, mentor, and guide data engineering teams in architectural excellence. Required Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor's/Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or related field. 10+ years' progressive leadership experience in data architecture, preferably in mortgage/finance domains. Expert in enterprise data modeling, architecture frameworks, and mortgage data flows. Hands-on experience with ELT/ETL, data engineering, and integration of Snowflake, S3, and AWS/Azure/NoSQL databases. Strong familiarity with on-premise SQL Server, Oracle, and cloud databases (RDS, CosmosDB, MariaDB, Postgres, DynamoDB, MongoDB). Proficiency in BI and analytics tool integration (PowerBI, Tableau) for data-driven decision-making. Proven record in migration and modernization initiatives from legacy to cloud platforms. Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and team leadership skills. Preferred Skills
Experience in designing solutions for regulatory risk data, compliance, and high-volume transactional data in mortgage lending/servicing. Familiarity with machine learning data pipelines and supporting advanced analytics. Experience with DevOps, CI/CD, and cloud infrastructure automation. Certifications in AWS, Snowflake, or data architecture frameworks
