About the Naugatuck School District

The Naugatuck School District educates approximately 4100 students from pre-kindergarten to grade 12 and offers a robust continuing education program for adults. Our students reflect the diversity of the world around us, bringing a wide range of cultures, languages, perspectives, and life experiences that enrich our classrooms and strengthen our community.

Our district is home to one early childhood center, four elementary schools (grades K-4), two intermediate schools (grades 5-6), one middle school (grades 7-8), and one high school (grades 9-12), all of which cultivate and support culturally responsive classrooms and learning communities. In addition to our PK-12 programs, Naugatuck offers adult learners' opportunities to complete a GED or high school diploma, learn English, and explore enrichment courses in the arts, technology, fitness, personal development, and culinary skills.

Naugatuck Public Schools "Vision of a Graduate" is to cultivate a community of learners who:

Are responsible and engaged community members Demonstrate initiative, persistence, and adaptability Are curious and value risk taking as part of the learning process Access and analyze information and formulate an opinion Communicate effectively Work individually and on teams to solve real world problems

We are committed to educational equity, ensuring that all students, regardless of background, identity, or circumstance, have access to the opportunities, supports, and resources they need to succeed. Our high school reflects this commitment with state-of-the-art science laboratories, turf athletic fields, a modern auditorium, and a swimming pool with stadium seating. This $81 million investment serves as a hub for learning, innovation, and community engagement. Our remaining schools are aging buildings that will need attention in the near future. However, those buildings hold a special place in the hearts of Naugatuck's residents.

Our nine-member Board of Education, alongside the Mayor, who also serves as a voting Board member, partners closely with the Borough while operating independently to ensure student success.
