The Communications and Marketing Manager is responsible for developing, streamlining and managing all marketing and communications for the entire organization, which includes Mountainfilm’s annual festival and year-round tour program. The main focuses will be pass sales, fundraising, festival programming, community relations, marketing campaigns, brand management, social media management and events. This position is year-round, in-person, located in Telluride, Colorado.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Development and implementation of Mountainfilm’s communication and marketing strategy
Management and execution of the organization's strategic marketing plan, encompassing the development of marketing campaigns, press releases, event promotion, production of printed materials and digital assets, social media and public relations strategies, and more
Support all aspects of the Mountainfilm team to meet their specific departmental objectives
Manage all Mountainfilm communications across all channels from email campaigns, newsletters and more
Manage social media platforms, create content, develop and implement initiatives to grow Mountainfilm’s social media presence and brand recognition
Consistent analysis of competitive environments and consumer trends
Create and design festival collateral and merchandise from passes, t-shirts, stickers, hats, laurels, posters and more
Support the creation and upkeep of job descriptions, annual review documents and training manuals
Management of the printed festival program in collaboration with the festival programming team
Secure paid ads from community businesses for the printed festival program
Management and oversight of the website content, which includes uploading all website copy and assets from guest and filmmaker bios, headshots, films, presentations, events and schedules to Mountainfilm’s website, app and online platforms
Photo archive and digital asset management
Hiring and management of festival photographers
App content and development manager
Manage and work within marketing and social media budgets
Manage Mountainfilm’s logo and branding, developing and updating design packages, media kits, and more
Collaborate with team members to ensure cohesive messaging across all communications
QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, communications or related experience.
Experience in marketing and running a marketing team
Effective time management skills and the ability to multitask
Knowledge of social media management and content creation
Strong writing and editing skills, with experience in email marketing and digital communications
Experience with task management on projects, ensuring deadlines are met
Proven project management skills with the ability to take a project from conception through completion
Ability to manage a budget
Professional and proactive work ethic
High competence in project and stakeholder management
Experience in Adobe Creative Suite with familiarity with Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop
Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
Experience with digital marketing forms such as social media marketing and content marketing
Competency in the majority of computer-based applications to perform the broad range of tasks required of the role
Working conditions Dedicated workstation in an open office environment where festival staff can grow from two to ten people during busy times
Must be able to work some nights and weekends, and be available for the duration of the festival
No extended travel plans outside the Telluride regional area in March, April and May
Occasional travel required; must have a valid driver’s license
This is not a hybrid/remote position and is based at the Mountainfilm office in Telluride, CO
Physical requirements Ability to work on a computer, sit and stand for extended periods, read from a screen, and operate a keyboard
Able to occasionally lift 25+ pounds
