We are looking for an Edifecs Developer

to support mission-critical healthcare IT platforms used by the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). You will play a key role in evaluating business requirements and designing. developing, and implementing solutions using Edifecs tools and electronic data interchange (EDI) standards. This includes working closely with internal business and technical teams to manage and enhance EDI transaction processes and healthcare-specific data transformations. Your expertise in Edifecs will be essential for ensuring accurate data mapping and seamless integration across cloud-based systems, ultimately improving the efficiency and reliability of our data exchange operations.

Key Responsibilities:



Collaborate with business subject matter experts to gather and refine requirements, ensuring technical feasibility and alignment with project objectives. • Configure

Edifecs tools , including

XEngine , to process EDI transactions-establishing business rules, implementing custom error validations, and ensuring compliance with HIPAA and trading partner specifications. • Design, update, and maintain EDI maps, profiles, and guidelines using Edifecs SpecBuilder and MapBuilder for standard HIPAA-compliant transaction sets (e.g.,

837, 834, 835, 820, 277, 278 , etc.). • Translate business and data requirements into standardized

X12 formats

for both inbound and outbound EDI transactions. • Conduct

unit

and

integration

testing

and coordinate with QA teams to validate solution accuracy and reliability. • Diagnose and resolve issues related to EDI transmission, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions promptly. • Integrate Edifecs solutions with external applications, databases, and middleware systems to enable seamless, automated exchange and accurate processing of X12 transactions across trading partners. • Provide post-implementation support, including applying updates and patches to maintain system performance and compliance with evolving standards. • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for integration workflows, system configurations, and data exchange processes. • Serve as a liaison between clients and internal technical teams, facilitating effective communication and timely issue resolution.

Requirements

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree with 6+ years of relevant experience, or a master's degree with 4+ years of experience. Equivalent professional experience or certifications may be considered in place of a degree for certain technical roles. Hands-on experience with Edifecs applications, including

XEngine ,

SpecBuilder ,

Transaction Management

(TM), and

Edifecs Application Manager

(EAM). Strong ability to develop, configure, and optimize workflows for healthcare EDI transactions such as 837, 834, 835, 270/271, 276/277, and 278 as well as trading partner configuration and management. Solid understanding of

HIPAA-compliant EDI transactions

and healthcare implementation guidelines. Demonstrated expertise in

EDI standards

and

healthcare domain knowledge , including familiarity with payer systems and government healthcare processes. Proficiency in

SQL, XML, XSLT, JavaScript, and Groovy

for data transformation and validation tasks. Experience integrating Edifecs solutions with relational databases (e.g.,

SQL Server, Oracle ) and APIs ( REST, SOAP ). Skilled in analyzing system logs, troubleshooting errors, and fine-tuning

XEngine

performance for efficiency and accuracy. Familiarity with Edifecs features such as

message tracking ,

exception handling , and

reporting tools . Experience working in

Agile development environments , with active participation in sprint planning, reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives. Effective communication skills for remote collaboration and technical documentation. Preferred Qualifications:

Experience deploying Edifecs solutions in

AWS

or other cloud environments. Familiarity with

CI/CD pipelines ,

Infrastructure as Code tools

such as

Terraform , and containerization technologies like

Docker

and

Kubernetes . Strong organizational skills with the ability to

prioritize and execute tasks independently

while also contributing effectively to a collaborative team environment. Experience managing

custom trading partner agreements

and relationships within cloud-based EDI infrastructures. Prior experience working in or with

government agencies

or

public sector healthcare systems .
