Accountability Objective
The Food Service Worker is a part time position that provides support to the food service operations at DACC. They are responsible for cooking, cleaning, cashiering and customer service for the food service operations. They will also assist the manager in the day-to-day operations, as well as on and off campus catering events.
Required Qualifications High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or equivalent combination of education and/or experience. Must have or be able to complete within 30 days a Food Handlers Certification. Ability to obtain and maintain a Food Manager Certification. Ensure compliance with sanitation and safety regulations. Must be available to work a flexible schedule. Working skills in customer service. Working skill in organizing work to meet established deadlines while maintaining attention to detail. Working skill in interpersonal interaction to applied to a variety of individuals with differing education, ethnic, and socio-economic backgrounds. Working skills in verbal and written communication. Working skill in operating a personal computer, applicable software and peripheral equipment (e.g. Excel, Word, point of sale) as well as learning and adapting to new and updated programs and technology. Desired Qualifications
Must be able to traverse uneven ground and work outside without assistance. Must be able to receive, process, and provide visual and verbal information. Must be able to lift weights of 50 lbs. occasionally or 30 lbs. frequently from the ground to waist level. Associate's Degree in Culinary Arts or a related field. Operate cash register and handle monetary transactions. Prepare food per instructions, assist with food prep work and serve food. Maintain a clean and sanitary area, adhering to State of Illinois Department of Public Health standards and regulations. Stock food items after deliveries. Maintain positive customer service, addressing customer needs, comments, and complaints. Adhere to and enforce employee compliance with health, safety, and sanitation standards. Maintains required training, licensure and/or certifications. Maintains confidentiality of privileged information and adheres to applicable privacy laws. Demonstrates sensitivity, understanding, and respect of diverse populations within the workplace. Maintains an understanding of the work of colleagues to effectively provide backup and/or support for co-workers during times when the Café is short-staffed or experiencing an increased volume of work. Adheres to department guidelines for attendance and punctuality. Plan, prepare, and train student workers to produce food products. Assist with ordering as necessary. Ensure all employees are working within outlined operating standards. Assume duties of Food Service Manager as needed. Assume other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
