Position Title Maintenance Technician
Department Facility Services: Owings Mills
Position Summary
Under general supervision, performs a broad range of semi-skilled tasks and maintenance duties in the building construction and maintenance field. Including, but not limited to, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, appliance repair, and painting. Assist in Snow removal when necessary. Assist in emergency service in addition to routine work as directed. This position is considered essential personnel.
Education/Experience
High school diploma plus three years' work related experience in general maintenance field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Valid driver license and a good driving record; must be insurable.
Knowledge/Skills/Ability Working knowledge and usage of hand and power tools associated with the maintenance field. Working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting repairs and installation as needed. Working knowledge of a computer generated work ticket system. Ability to practice effective verbal communication skills with faculty, staff, and students. Ability to read, understand and abide by all safety policies and procedures. Ability to work any assigned shift/work schedule. Available to be on-call at minimum of one week out of every four weeks. Ability to work 24/7 as the position requires. Physical Requirements
Heavy Work: Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Talking, hearing, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, standing, walking, lifting, reaching, pushing, pulling, keyboarding, and grasping. Visual acuity to perform an activity such as operations of machines; using measurement devices; and/or visual inspections of small parts or devices. Subject to both environmental conditions. Activities occur inside and outside. Subject to hazards, noise, extreme cold and oils.
Essential Functions
Perform routine scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on air conditioning, heating, ventilation, refrigeration and other equipment/systems. Respond to all related repair requests and troubleshoots problems; making necessary repairs. Have a working knowledge of various HVAC controls. Perform routine and emergency repairs to basic plumbing fixtures, pipes and fittings duties. Perform minor routine and emergency repairs to electrical system components, including but not limited to, light fixtures, ballasts, switches and other electrical items. Perform minor repairs to grounds construction, including but not limited to roadways, walkways, interior and exterior walls, ceilings floors and other building surfaces. Assist with painting and general carpentry. Perform minor equipment and appliance repairs. Maintain and inspect assigned zone. Maintain the highest level of employee/guest relations Assist with event set-up and breakdown. Assist with snow removal.
