We are currently seeking a Designer for our NorCal studio. The Designer, working under the general supervision of a Senior Designer or Project Manager, provides design support primarily in project administration, presentations, concept development through design development, and contract documentation.
Specific responsibilities include:
Develop architectural concepts for interior and exterior repositioning and/or adaptive reuse projects.
Create design ideas and produce presentation and construction drawings.
Draft technical drawings.
Oversee all design and drawing for smaller projects.
Review engineering and landscape drawings to ensure compliance with design intent.
Research and select fixtures and finishes in collaboration with Senior Designer.
Ensure integration of fixtures and finishes into overall design.
Develop preliminary concept plans for larger projects.
Develop and finalize conceptual designs for smaller projects.
Supervise Intermediate Designer in reviewing space plans and addressing complex issues.
Provide detailed interior and architectural design elements.
Develop and deliver design and furniture packages for interior and exterior projects.
Assist in developing packages for larger projects.
Obtain and produce cost estimates, including final budgets.
Manage the design budget for assigned projects.
Mentor Junior and Intermediate Designers as needed.
Qualifications:
Graduate of architecture or design school; equivalent experience may be considered.
Minimum of 6+ years’ experience in workplace design, focusing on building repositioning, adaptive reuse, and corporate interior projects.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Extensive knowledge of design principles, workplace trends, and aesthetics.
Strong presentation skills.
Advanced space planning expertise.
Deep knowledge of furnishings and finishes, including furniture layout concepts.
Proficiency in sketching and rendering.
Strong architecture detailing skills.
Knowledge of CDs, procedures, building systems, codes, and ADA requirements.
Understanding of path of travel requirements and contract administration.
Intermediate MS Office skills.
Advanced Revit and Adobe Creative Suite skills.
Salary Range: $70,000 - $85,000, commensurate with education, licensing, and relevant industry experience.
