Job Description Summary: A private organization is seeking a Controller to lead all core accounting operations and oversee internal controls. This role is responsible for managing daily accounting functions and driving the month-end and year-end close processes. The Controller will supervise the general accounting team and collaborate with cross-functional departments including operations, sales, and external auditors to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting. The ideal candidate brings strong leadership capabilities, in-depth accounting knowledge, and proven experience in financial compliance.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Oversee daily accounting operations, including general ledger maintenance, reconciliations, and journal entries Manage month-end and year-end close processes to ensure timely, GAAP-compliant reporting Prepare or review financial statements and internal management reports on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis Ensure accurate and timely filings of sales tax, federal excise tax, and other regulatory compliance requirements Supervise accounting team functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general accounting Develop and enhance internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures for improved accuracy and audit readiness Maintain compliance with GAAP and evolving regulatory standards Support internal and external audits by preparing schedules and responding to inquiries Generate and analyze daily, monthly, and ad hoc financial reports to inform business decisions Partner with leadership on budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, and strategic initiatives Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align financial reporting with operational performance Handle additional projects and tasks as assigned LEADERSHIP & MANAGEMENT:

Direct and mentor the accounting team, fostering skill development across core functions Ensure team adherence to policies and deadlines while promoting continuous improvement QUALIFICATIONS:

7-10 years of progressive accounting experience Minimum of 5 years of management experience Strong knowledge of GAAP and tax compliance (state sales tax and federal excise tax) Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities Proficient in Microsoft Excel; strong communication skills, both written and verbal Experience with organizational and project management EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting required CPA or Master of Accountancy (MAcc) preferred Compensation & Benefits:

Salary range: $100,000-$140,000, based on experience and qualifications Comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision, 401(k) with match, and paid time off
