YOUR MISSION (The Job Description):
The incumbent in this position is responsible for managing the lighting systems in 24 Oxford, The Event Lawn and assisting when needed with lighting systems throughout the hotel during all shows and events. This is to include supervision of all on-call personnel before, during and after all entertainment setups, to ensure efficient execution of shows/events without any disruptions.
THE NITTY-GRITTY (The Essential Job Duties) Strong understanding of electrical systems, lighting control consoles, and different types of lighting equipment Maintain the lighting and video system in a functional, clean, and safe working condition at all times Diagnosing and resolving technical issues with lighting equipment, including LED systems, and handling equipment failure Work in close relationship with Director of Entertainment and the Production Manager for the upkeep, maintenance, and inventory of all lighting equipment to ensure proper operation Work in a close relationship with all touring lighting designers to accommodate their needs throughout the day Working with directors, designers, and other production team members to achieve the desired look and feel of a production Must be comfortable assisting with quick band changeovers and assisting with load in/ load out of equipment when needed Must be familiar with setting up lighting consoles and be comfortable operating moving lights, video wall and haze during a show Attend required training sessions offered by Virgin Hotels Las Vegas Perform the duties described in compliance with local laws and regulations. Take the necessary steps to ensure minors are not allowed to gamble or loiter in gambling areas, drink alcoholic beverages, or purchase tobacco Have knowledge of the ordinances, regulations, laws, policies, and procedures relating to the employee's department Consult Internal Control Procedures and Policy Manuals for guidance Report illegal activity to Security or the appropriate levels of management WHAT IT TAKES (The Qualities We Look For)
Communicate with all levels of employees as well as outside contacts Effectively and efficiently move around work areas Work physical in nature and requires complete physical mobility, including but not limited to balancing, bending, carrying, climbing, crawling, reaching, squatting, twisting, lifting up to 100 pounds, and pushing/pulling up to 100 pounds Ability to move around equipment and perform rigging and lighting duties Communicate with and understand technical terminology used by contract writers Delegate work assignments to various crew members in conjunction with stage manager Work closely with guest lighting directors and their crews to ensure that all needs are met MUST HAVE'S
A degree in Theater Arts Minimum of 3 years hands-on experience in stage, lighting and sound, or through a minimum of 5 years related experience WOULD BE NICE TO HAVE'S
Experience working across different show types, from theatrical productions to corporate events and concerts Proficiency in popular lighting consoles, such as grandMA, Hog, or ETC Strong knowledge of lighting data protocols like DMX and Art-Net and how to set up the necessary network infrastructure Experience with integrating lighting with video elements and LED wall systems, which is critical for large-scale events and concerts Familiarity with modern LED technology, including RGB strip lights, pixel mapping, and display system Hands-on experience with fog, haze, strobe lights, and other stage effects THE WORKING CONDITIONS
Subject to varying levels of crowds, smoke and noise, the severity of which depends upon customer volume Must withstand various activities, such as prolonged standing, walking, stretching, bending, reaching, kneeling, etc It is crucial to maintain physical stamina and positive mental attitude Ability to work indoors and outdoors with frequent cold and warm temperatures VALUABLE TRAITS
