The Position:
Applications are currently being accepted for two Business Systems Analyst positions in the Educational Services Division's Student Services department, located at District Admin Office. Hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Selected candidates must be willing to adjust work days/hours based on the department's needs.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform complex cross-departmental functional analysis including setup, mapping, testing, and troubleshooting of the student information system to recommend implementation practices.
Perform complex functional analysis of computer applications including report functions, assessment, scanning, and component testing.
Develop business process modifications and determine strategic solutions to provide consistency; prepare business process documentation, write test scripts, lead testing, and identify fixes or corrections.
Provide technical support and expertise for the student information system, including troubleshooting and resolving application database problems. Serve as a liaison with application developers and Information Technology staff to solve complex procedural, operational, and technical problems.
Provide training to district staff responsible for end-user training. Develop procedures, user manuals, and training materials to maintain consistency of system use throughout the District.
Write, modify, and generate ad hoc queries and reports. Prepare various reports and summaries for management and/or users.
Set up and maintain security profiles for system users.
Collaborate and consult with other areas in the organization.
Please note that an employee may be transferred to any site at the option of the Chancellor.
Qualifications:
Three to five years of increasingly responsible experience involving information systems analysis, including advising clients on technology solutions and conducting business process analyses, and troubleshooting large and complex software applications.
Desired Qualifications:
Knowledge of complex student information systems (e.g., PeopleSoft, Banner, Ellucian).
Understanding of student services functions, including admissions, academic advising, curriculum development, class scheduling, registration, and student records.
Knowledge of district operations, policies, and objectives.
Proficiency in English language usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation, and vocabulary.
Familiarity with laws, codes, regulations, and policies related to the role.
Knowledge of modern office practices, procedures, and equipment, including computer hardware and software.
Understanding of principles, practices, methods, and terminology used in assigned functional areas; research methodology, statistical analysis, report preparation, and presentation.
Skills and Abilities:

Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Conduct research, analyze data, develop recommendations, and prepare reports.
Create and develop queries and reports from student information systems.
Develop documentation and provide training to staff.
Develop procedures and user manuals.

Interpret, explain, and apply laws, rules, policies, and procedures.
Learn various student information and administrative systems.
Operate computers and business software.
Plan and organize work; work independently.
Training and Experience:
Three to five years of experience in information systems analysis, advising on technology solutions, business process analysis, and troubleshooting complex software applications.
Pay Information:
Range 11 ($5,526.81 - $9,227.23) per month, based on current salary schedule. The district offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, and vision plans, sick and vacation leave, and professional development opportunities. Salary placement is based on experience and promotional rules. This position is non-exempt under FLSA and may accrue overtime. A temporary probationary period applies.
