IT Business Analyst
Chicago, IL: Hybrid WFH (2 days onsite/week)
Summary
This is a unique opportunity to work with a small internal product/tech team within a large law firm, that operates more like a startup than the environment of a traditional law firm. We are looking for someone who can take initiative to gather requirements and elicit information from key business users to drive enhancements to a recently launched SaaS application used by the law firm's internal attorneys, the law firm's clients and the client's clients. The application launched in the U.S. in 2021, and we're wanting to optimize further before launching globally.
You'll be working in an Agile environment, that still has the need to do long term planning and budgeting, so we refer to it as "Wagile.
It's also worth noting the hiring manager for this position spent 10+ years working for software companies, before transitioning to work on this team for a law firm. As such you'll be working in progressive environment that will be driving a highly visible product for a global law firm.
What you'll be doing Acts as relationship manager in the process of seeking out, identifying, and resolving business needs and/or business problems through process and/or technical recommendations and/or technical solutions across practice groups, units as assigned.
Research, understand, and document business processes.
Capture requirements from key business contacts and ensure documented requirements satisfy business needs (aligning use cases and stories/features to business processes) while addressing all downstream impacts.
Form and maintain business requirements and functional specification documentation.
Evaluate how new requirements fit into an existing product and ensure consistency throughout the product
Translate requirements into test conditions and expected results for product, performance and user acceptance testing. Additionally, perform QA reviews prior to client delivery.
Be a part of the change management process and effectively communicate required changes to development teams.
Deliver project requirements and service levels in a deadline driven environment.
Demonstrate analytical and organizational skills by analyzing and documenting complex information structures involving multiple layers of data and workflows.
Adapt communication language and style to varied audiences making use of Microsoft PowerPoint, Visio, and other Firm tools.
Evaluate test results, effectively identify and track issues using tools and processes working with respective team to escalate for resolution.
Skills we're seeking
3+ years of experience with IT Business Analysis
Nice to have experience Experience with Product Management for SaaS, or other client-facing products
Legal experience in some capacity either working for a law firm, or working to build legal software products
Experience working in Agile environments
Experience working in a professional services environment and/or a startup environment (we want people that understand the culture of a law firm, but can work on our unique team that acts more like a startup inside of a law firm)
