JOB SUMMARYAMH is growing - we have 3 new dentists starting soon and are seeking DA I and II to work in our new dental office.Verifies patient information by interviewing patient. Candidates must have at least one year of dental assisting experience. You will greet patients, prepare dental van, and help the dentist during patient examinations and other dental procedures. Between patients, you will clean exam dental van and replenish & stock supplies. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIESEssential Duties and ResponsibilitiesGather patient information and health backgroundPrepare the work area for proceduresTake x-rays of patients' teeth when necessary and display results for the dentistAssist the dentist during examinations and dental proceduresPrepare materials for crowns or dental impressionsEducate patients on good oral hygiene habitsRestock treatment areas and monitor inventoryDental assistant certificate from an accredited vocational school (preferred)1+ years of dental assisting experienceX-ray certification a plusCurrent BLS and CPR certificationExcellent understanding of dental hygiene proceduresKnowledge of aseptic and sterilization techniquesRequirementsKnowledge:General knowledge of quality improvement practices. Skills:Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.Proficient with medical office technology and equipment, including computers, copiers, scanners, fax machines, and phone systems, as well as MS Excel/Word/Outlook, Electronic Health Record systems and automated medical scheduling and billing programs.Excellent interpersonal skills in group and community settingsAbility to plan, schedule and coordinateEffective management of multiple duties and responsibilities in a clinical settingSound leadership and clinical judgmentExcellent communication skills in person, on the phone and in written communicationsFlexibility in a rapidly growing and changing work environmentStrong attention to detailExceptional customer service skillsAbility to maintain confidentiality of financial and clinical informationExcellent listenerDemonstrates initiativeEDUCATION/EXPERIENCERequired:High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED)Satisfactory completion of Dental Assistant Certification ProgramPreferred:Experience working with racially and ethnically diverse populations, low-income populations and people experiencing homelessnessAt least one year of experience in a primary care or public dental setting functioning at the full extent of her/his trainingExperience with Practice Management systems and EHRPrior work in performance or quality improvementPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Full range of motion, including manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordinationStanding and walking frequently and occasionally lifting and carrying items weighing up to 50 poundsFrequent exposure to communicable diseases, biohazards, toxic substances, medicinal preparations and other conditions common to a clinical settingTravel within western North CarolinaWORK ENVIRONMENT Fast paced work environment.
