Generally, Monday through Friday from 730am to 430pm
Position Overview: A Mechanic is responsible for preparing chassis, containers, and trailers for proper operations. They will assist in performing preventative maintenance work through inspection and servicing of units, holding performance testing, and replacing or repairing defective unit components. Mechanics will also assist in maintaining unit records such as FMCSA dates and, at times, preparation of cost estimates for repairs and services requested.
Important Job Functions
- Thoroughly inspects chassis, containers, and trailers to detect any malfunctions or damages
- Repairs and maintains chassis, containers, and trailers following the manual procedures set out by the company
- Uses all of the proper tools, (jacks, impacts, etc supplied by the company), to successfully complete any tasks given
- Confirms that all equipment and any service provided is functioning properly once completed
- Reports any issues in a timely manner to the proper personnel/supervisor
- Communicates with all employees in a professional manner on a consistent basis
- Follows the proper safety policies and procedures while completing any given tasks
Other Job Functions
- Ability to estimate the cost of repairs and take/email repair pictures
- Work in outdoor environment exposed to elements (sun, heat, etc.)
- Visually inspect equipment (requires both far and short-range vision, clear and able to discern defects)
- Use of and ability to swing a 9lb hammer
- Use of and ability to handle cutting torches and grinding tools
- Use of and ability to handle arc welding equipment
- Use of and ability to handle circular saw
- Use of various shop tools, including wrenches, prying tools, air tools, lifting equipment (jacks, etc.)
- Ability to lift, push, and pull on a repetitive and sometimes constant basis up to 60lbs (full range of motion required)
Requirements
- 2-3 years of experience working as a chassis, container, or trailer mechanic
- FMCSA certified and brake certified
- Ability to work 40 hours a week without issue
Other Skills/Abilities
- Should have excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to interact with team members in a professional manner
- Sound understanding of using repair tools, equipment, and testing machinery
