Title: Certified Family Support Specialist
Purpose: Provide assistance to caregivers who are caring for a child diagnosed with a mental health disorder, or a coexisting mental health, developmental and/or substance use disorder by strengthening their role as parents through the provision of teaching and support services, and reducing the likelihood that the family and member will become isolated, disempowered, or disengaged.
Qualifications:
- Must be 18 years or older
- Have at least one year of lived experience as a parent or an adult caregiver raising a child or has raised a child who has raised a child who lives with a behavioral health diagnosis (mental illness or co-occurring mental illness and substance use disorder) and has successfully navigated the systems of care in the State of Idaho.
- Completed Certified Family Support Training
- Complete 20 hours of Supervision upon receipt of Certificate
- Current Enhanced Background Check

Supervised by: Team Leader/Program Director/Clinical Supervisor

Location: Client home, designated office space and/or community locations
Job functions, responsibilities and authority:
- Advocate for the member and member’s family needs.
- Identify member’s needs and strengths.
- Assist member and member’s family in locating and attending educational classes that will aid in their recovery.
- Teach caregivers how to document and maintain member’s goals, objectives, appointments, meetings, and strengths.
- Assist in preparing the member’s transition to adulthood.
- Role model and facilitate appropriate skills and relationships.
- Assist the member and member’s family in developing the Family Support Services (FSS) recovery plan.
- Complete accurate progress notes documenting all FSS interventions.
- Submit all progress notes, reviews and treatment plans from the previous week Sunday by midnight, along with timesheets and weekly hours forms. Note corrections are due Tuesday at noon. Review and recovery plans corrections are due Thursday at noon.
- Review each assigned client’s FSS Recovery Plan at least every 90, 180, and 270 days.
- Allow new employees the opportunity to shadow you while providing direct service as a training tool.
- Other tasks as assigned.
- Report claims of abuse as needed according to Policy and Procedure #320.
- Attend any other meetings as assigned
- Maintain all required documentation for employee file including any certificate requirements and a current enhanced background check.
Salary Range:
$17/hr-$21/hr
