Job Description Overview:
The PET Blow Molding Technician is responsible for operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting PET blow molding machines to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality production of PET bottles and containers. This role involves setting up equipment, monitoring production processes, conducting quality checks, and performing preventive and corrective maintenance to minimize downtime. In addition, you will be responsible for assisting the Engineer and Management team with other projects as assigned.
Essential Responsibilities: Comply with all quality, safety, and work rules and regulations. Adheres to all instructions, Good Manufacturing Practices and housekeeping procedures. Operate and monitor PET blow molding machines according to production schedules. Set up molds, changeovers, and adjust machine parameters to meet product specifications. Start up, shut down, and troubleshoot equipment as needed. Replace or Repair machine parts. Assist with machine installation. Inspect finished bottles for defects such as leaks, deformities, or irregular shapes. Conduct dimensional and visual checks to ensure compliance with quality standards. Record quality inspection data and take corrective actions when necessary. Process/Maintenance Technician Responsibilities:
Suggest improvements for cycle times, material usage, and machine efficiency. Adjust settings to reduce scrap and improve consistency. Perform basic preventive maintenance on blow molding equipment. Identify mechanical or process issues and work with maintenance teams for repairs. Keep machines clean, lubricated, and in proper working condition. Reduce Scrap and promote efficient operations of the cycle time. Provide innovative and creative solutions to production problems. Follow the complete Start-up and Shut-down procedure as per Company's and Machine requirements. Preventative Maintenance. Maintain downtime documentation throughout the shift to support data collection, problem solving and daily meetings. Assists with technicians and perform tasks such as those listed below:
Mold Changes and Mold Cleaning Starting and stopping the conveyors Maintenance of the chiller system
Education and/or Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent (technical training preferred). Minimum 2 years of experience in PET blow molding or related plastic manufacturing. Experience with industrial processing equipment and infrastructure. Blow molding preferred. Other skills and abilities :
Experience with PET blow molding machines (e.g., Sidel, Krones, AOKI, or similar). Knowledge of PET resin handling and drying processes. Understanding of mold changeover procedures and mechanical adjustments. Ability to manage multiple tasks, set priorities, identify problems, address problems and meet deadlines. Ability to follow verbal and written instructions. English skills must be proficient to read, write and communicate. Basic math skills Basic computer skills Basic mechanical trouble shooting and repair Basic electrical trouble shooting and repair Must be able to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work effectively both independently and within a team environment. Ability to work overtime and weekends as required. Must be able to operate material handling equipment. Must be committed to the success of the entire organization Understand and comply with applicable OSHA safety rules/regulations and Lock-out/Tag-out requirements. Must be able to become forklift certified within 60 days. Physical Requirements:
Requirements include, but are not limited to:
Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged periods of time. Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. Must be able to push, pull, twist, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, and crawl. Must be able to perform repetitive motions such as reaching and grasping. Work environment is in a warehouse and temperatures inside vary between hot or cold based on the outside conditions.
