Job Summary: Responsible for using honing and lapping machines to achieve precise surface finishes and dimensions on company parts.

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • Knowledge of honing and lapping processes, machine operation, and precision measuring instruments.
  • Ability to hand lap surfaces and diameter within specified size and finish requirements.

  • Experience in assembly or manufacturing environment.
  • Basic troubleshooting Skills
  • Experience in Aerospace industry EXTERNAL Preferred.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Ensure adherence to safety regulation and standard. Follow Safety culture and wear PPE when required.
  • Will set up honing and lapping machines according to blueprints, work orders and machining instructions. This includes selecting the appropriate tooling adjusting machine settings and mounting tools.
  • Determine dimensions and tolerances of finished workpiece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.
  • Precision cleaning of parts when required.
  • Inspect or measure finished workpieces to determine conformance to specifications, using measuring instruments, such as a microscope, gauges, micrometers, indicators, and optical flats.
  • Maintains specifications by observing tooling; recording measurements; detecting discrepancies; trouble shooting processes; replacing worn tools.
  • Notifies management of product discrepancies or equipment malfunctions.
  • Fills out production paperwork and inspection procedures as required.
  • Reports any problems or discrepancies to immediate supervisor.
  • Follow 6s Procedures and maintains a clean organized work area.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Working Conditions:

  • Normal Production environments, subject to high noise levels from operating machines; physical hazards from moving equipment and sharp machine parts; breathing fumes, dust, and mist; skin exposure to oil and cutting fluid; exposure to sharp metal edges, and forklifts
  • May be asked to travel back and forth between Southwick and Westfield facilities.

Physical Requirements Must have ability to read applicable customer documents with or without corrective lenses. May have to lift up to thirty (30) pounds at a time, as required. Must be able to push, pull, reach overhead, stand, walk, climb stairs, bend and/or sit for long periods.
