HonorVet Technologies is seeking a travel Pathologists' Assistant for a travel job in Detroit, Michigan. Job Description & Requirements Specialty: Pathologists' Assistant Discipline: Allied Health Professional Start Date: 09/29/2025 Duration: 13 weeks 40 hours per week Shift: 8 hours, evenings Employment Type: Travel Title: Pathologists Assistant Location: Detroit, MI Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Monday to Friday, 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM Job Responsibilities and Skills: Assist pathologists in anatomic pathology, including preparation and performance of human surgical specimen examinations and post-mortem examinations. Perform gross description, complete dissection, and selection/submission of tissue sections for microscopic evaluation (frozen and permanent). Accession specimens, ensuring proper identification and compliance with pathology policies. Aid in resident training and credentialing, providing technical teaching and competency assessment. Conduct gross photography and maintain relevant files. Manage tumor procurement for biorepository and complete related documentation and quality assurance. Participate in quality control activities, including specimen identification, frozen sections, and instrument maintenance. Inventory and order supplies for frozen section and surgical pathology labs. Select tissues for disposal post-report finalization. Perform autopsies including external exam, evisceration, dissection, tissue submission, and documentation. Other duties as assigned. Required Skills and Experience: Minimum 5 years experience in pathology or related field. Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited institution. Completion of NAACLS accredited Pathologist’s Assistant program OR previous certification by the American Association of Pathologists’ Assistants (AAPA). Customer service skills, self-directed, team-oriented, flexible, willing to learn, respectful of diversity. Preferred Skills and Experience: Certification as a Pathologists Assistant (PA) by ASCP is preferred.
