Overview

Position: Warehouse Associate / Forklift Operator / Order Picker - 1st Shift (Full-time)

This position is responsible for providing timely and high-quality shipping services, and for providing controlled distribution and inventory of finished products. Duties may include picking/packaging/shipping products manually, inspecting incoming orders for damage and accuracy, and maintaining a clean and organized warehouse. This position may also serve as the back-up for the production area as needed.

Principal Accountabilities

Order Fulfillment (Shipping Outbound)

  • Ensure products ready for shipment are processed in a timely and quality manner; coordinate with customers as required.
  • Pick, inspect, pack, weigh and prepare shipping documents to ship all orders accurately and efficiently, ensuring timely delivery to customers.
  • Label or re-label products, as necessary.
  • Enter parcel shipment details into UPS/FedEx software.
  • Prepare export documents for occasional international shipments (UPS/FedEx/DHL).
  • Collaborate with our 3rd party logistics company to select appropriate carrier and prepare bill of lading for LTL shipments.
  • Post shipments in the ERP system.
  • Affix packing slip, material certification(s), and other necessary labels on to the packages.
  • Greet and hand packages to carriers or load skids onto trucks.
  • Contact carriers and investigate late pick-ups or shipment delays.
  • Record all tracking numbers and pro numbers in the ERP system.
  • File claims with carriers for lost or damaged shipments.
  • Report any safety, equipment, tooling, or quality issues to supervisor/lead/manager.

Order Fulfillment (Receiving Inbound)

  • Inspect incoming deliveries for damage or missing items; report issues to the delivery driver and supervisor. Take pictures to document.
  • Count/weigh incoming orders for accurate receiving.
  • Put away goods in a timely and organized manner.

Warehouse Operative

  • Conduct regular cycle counts of raw material and finished goods inventory.
  • Count selected inventory items during annual year-end inventory audit with 3rd party auditing firm.
  • Verify counts on inspected products to ensure accurate receiving into the ERP system.
  • Problem-solve to address all inventory discrepancies; collaborate with other teams to resolve issues.
  • Rotate inventory using FIFO method; consolidate and organize inventory daily.
  • Monitor shipping supply usage and initiate purchase requisitions to maintain stock.
  • Maintain a clean and organized warehouse, optimizing storage space and layout.
  • Perform and maintain weekly forklift safety inspections; liaise with forklift vendor for annual preventive maintenance.
  • Ensure safe operation of equipment; adhere to company standards and policies.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills; ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Ability to read a caliper and tape measure.
  • Ability to operate machines including barcode readers, computer terminals, forklift, and other electronics.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Windows applications and the ability to learn ERP systems.
  • Effective communication and problem-solving skills; ability to work well in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Understanding of tools, gauges, and instruments used in the role; basic arithmetic skills (add/subtract/multiply/divide, decimals, percentages, fractions, ratios).
  • Strong work ethic.

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous warehouse, logistics, or inventory experience in a production environment.

Preferred

  • Experience with pallet jacks and forklifts; training provided if needed.
