Job Description

About 9fin

The world's largest asset class, debt, operates with the worst data.

Technology has revolutionized equity markets with electronic trading, quant algos and instantaneous news. However, in debt capital markets, the picture is completely different. It still behaves like it’s in the 1980s; trillions of dollars of trades are placed over the phone, news is slow, and corporate credit information is imperfect and scattered.

Our mission is to change this.

9fin's proprietary technology delivers fast and comprehensive financial, credit, legal & ESG analysis. Our clients are able to make faster, more informed decisions, win more business and most importantly, save time.

Our fast growing list of clients include 9 of the top 10 Investment Banks, leading Asset Managers, Hedge Funds and Law Firms.

About the role

9fin is looking for someone to spearhead its collection and analysis of private credit data in the US.

If you have experience of a) getting hold of and b) deriving insights from large and detailed datasets in capital markets, and are excited by the challenge of lifting the hood on a fast-growing but opaque and fragmented corner of the leveraged credit markets, we want to work with you!

What you’ll work on

Every day is different, but here’s an example of the kind of things you’ll work on:

  • Building a network — You’ll identify the major players in the private credit markets and figure out how to collaborate with them on data

  • Database — You’ll work with 9fin’s engineering, sales, and product teams to construct a private credit database that clients truly value

  • Reports — You’ll work with our journalists and analysts to identify trends in the data you’re collecting, and produce regular reports

About You

This role will be a great fit if you are:

  • Experienced — 2+ years working in banking/asset management/ratings/data/analysis or any other area of credit markets, especially if that experience includes working with private credit specifically

  • Personable — Able to build relationships with key market participants and get them comfortable with sharing their data

  • A team player — Comfortable working with journalists, analysts, engineers and product managers to build a best-in-class database

  • Detail-oriented — Able to understand nuance and hone in on important details, without losing sight of the bigger picture

Our benefits

We’re a scaling start up and we enjoy sharing our success, when the company succeeds, we always reinvest that in our people. We also offer huge amounts of responsibility, an abundance of opportunity for growth and a platform to truly excel.

Financial & Insurance

  • Competitive Salary: $100,000-$140,000 (DOE) (our salary bands are benchmarked at 75-90th percentile of market)
