Claims Business Analyst

Remote (25% travel to Hartford, CT)

Brooksource is currently seeking a skilled Claims Business Analyst to support a healthcare client’s mainframe development initiative. The ideal candidate will bring deep domain expertise in claims adjudication, strong analytical skills, and experience working in Agile environments. This role will be instrumental in bridging business needs with technical solutions, ensuring the successful delivery of enhancements and new functionality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with product owners, stakeholders, and development teams to gather, analyze, and document business requirements related to claims adjudication.
  • Translate business needs into clear and actionable user stories and acceptance criteria.
  • Work closely with developers and testers to ensure requirements are understood and implemented correctly.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, backlog grooming, and retrospectives.
  • Utilize tools such as RTC, Jira, and Rally to manage requirements, track progress, and support Agile workflows.
  • Analyze existing mainframe systems and processes to identify opportunities for improvement or modernization.
  • Support UAT and validation efforts by creating test scenarios and assisting with defect triage.
  • Maintain documentation and ensure traceability of requirements throughout the project lifecycle.

Required Qualifications

  • 1+ years of experience as a Business Analyst in healthcare IT projects, with a focus on claims adjudication.
  • Strong understanding of Agile methodologies and experience working on Scrum or Kanban teams.
  • Proficiency with: RTC (Rational Team Concert), Jira, Rally.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience working with mainframe technologies or legacy systems.
  • Familiarity with healthcare regulations and compliance standards (e.g., HIPAA).
  • Experience with data mapping, process modeling, and gap analysis.
