Description

As an Emergency Vehicle Upfitter, your primary job is to scope out, program, install, troubleshoot, maintain, remove, and service two-way mobile radios, tablets, wireless modems, speakers, lights, sirens, center consoles, antennas, other accessories, and all necessary wiring into customer vehicles. These vehicles include everything from police cruisers, K-9 vehicles, fire trucks, ambulances, public works plow trucks, school buses, tow trucks and an array of other commercial vehicles. You will be responsible for exceeding our customers' expectations and fulfilling our company's needs. Our Emergency Vehicle Upfitters are directly responsible for keeping our communities' public safety, education, and public works departments communicating. This is a job you can take pride in and know that what you do matters. You will be tasked out by our garage manager at our Congers NY garage location. We are looking for qualified individuals with installation experience, and those who are looking for a new career opportunity with room to grow in our company. Working Conditions Ability to work business hours M-F 8am to 4:30pm

Work in our garage in Congers NY and occasionally locations all over NY/NJ,

Duties & Responsibilities Understand and fully utilize service software as is required to execute your job

Receive a task and complete job tasks as assigned by the Garage manager

Intelligently plan and install two-way radios and related equipment into different types of vehicles

Ability to properly diagnose and correct a charge guard/power drain/ no power issue

Be familiar with center consoles to include the different brands, radio brackets, filler plates, etc.

Assist a sales rep or garage manager in scoping out and quoting a vehicle install

Follow our “Opportunity to Close Out Process” and others as required

Program portable and mobile radios using correct software and cables

Troubleshoot, diagnose and repair/replace antenna lines, power lines, and antennas

Run RF cabling, power lines, antenna lines and CAT5/6 Cabling as needed

Cut, splice, and terminate wiring with correct endpoints and hardware as needed

Understand AC/DC voltage and power systems

Install power supplies, distribution panels, backup power systems and batteries

Maintain all company issued tools and equipment and ensure serviceability

Understanding of Ohms Law

Understanding of RF theory and antenna propagation

Work closely with Garage manager to ensure timely completion of work

Assist Garage manager as needed with customer and job information

Assist other upfitters and technicians with on-site installation

Qualifications Skills Ability to work independently and as an active member of a team

Strong multitasking, time management, and prioritization skills

Excellent organizational skills and initiative

Strong foundation and understanding of technology

Ability to follow a detailed process

Self-motivated and directed

Understanding of Ohms law and basic low voltage electrical work

Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose issues in a systematic approach

Knowledge of RF spectrum and antenna propagation theory

Understanding of basic IP networking and digital systems

Ability to follow a Scope of Work, rack diagrams, wiring diagrams, and system drawings

Beneficial Addition Technical training and certifications (OSHA, R56, Motorola, Kenwood, Harris, etc.)

Related military experience/MOS training

Electrical Engineering or Computer Science degree

EVT Certification
