Overview Description

We are seeking an experienced attorney to support Applied AI Solutions, a new business group in Amazon Web Services (AWS). Applied AI Solutions’ ambition is to become a partner which companies can rely on to run their business every day, putting AI to work delivering better customer experiences, operational excellence, and speed.

You will be part of a team that counsels Applied AI Solutions business teams on a range of commercial, regulatory, and product development matters. The successful candidate must be enthusiastic, pragmatic, enjoy working hard and being challenged, and demonstrate sound judgment in ambiguous situations. Some travel, domestic and international, may be required.

Responsibilities

Serve as a trusted advisor to senior business leaders

Provide strategic advice and recommendations to business teams on compliance matters, privacy, intellectual property, and go-to-market strategy

Negotiate commercial transactions

Advise on customer and regulator communications

Manage outside counsel relationships, directing budgeting and allocation of resources

Basic Qualifications

5+ years of legal experience

Juris Doctor and membership in one state bar or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with privacy and security related issues

Experience in technology and commercial transactions or businesses

Experience supporting product development or web services/cloud computing, software licensing, telecommunications or equivalent

Experience working closely with and advising senior executives of an organization or equivalent

Experience working independently and directly with all levels of legal and business partners or equivalent

High degree of independence, initiative, decisiveness and creative thinking, as well as a desire to be challenged

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to be a partner to business stakeholders

A mix of law firm and in-house experience

Experience in web services/cloud computing, software licensing, telecommunications or equivalent

In-house experience supporting product development

Experience managing other attorneys and legal professionals

Excellent organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple projects at once, follow through and meet deadlines

Demonstrated experience writing successfully for a diverse range of audiences

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $138,500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $229,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
