Overview Chief Compliance Officer (CCO) will lead our compliance strategy and governance across the enterprise. This executive role will set the vision for compliance, ensure alignment with regulatory requirements, and act as the senior-most authority for compliance matters, supporting our transition to becoming a Registered Investment Advisor (RIA) and preparing the organization for future SEC oversight. This includes ensuring compliance across Core’s investment activities in student housing and build-to-rent (BTR) portfolios, covering acquisitions, financing, operations, and investor reporting.

What You Will Do

Strategic Leadership & Oversight

Serve as the designated CCO under SEC regulations with full accountability for the enterprise compliance program.

Develop and execute the enterprise compliance strategy to ensure regulatory adherence while enabling business growth.

Advise the Board, CEO, President, COO, and other executives on regulatory risks, emerging trends, and strategic compliance considerations.

Lead compliance integration during the firm’s transition to becoming a Registered Investment Advisor (RIA).

Regulatory Compliance Management

Design and implement processes to meet anticipated SEC compliance requirements upon registration, including readiness for future Form ADV filings and required reporting. Ensure compliance policies cover investment activities in student housing and build-to-rent portfolios.

Oversee compliance for property acquisitions, financing structures, and operational partnerships within student housing and BTR developments.

Oversee enterprise-wide policies including the Code of Ethics, marketing compliance, cybersecurity, business continuity, and operational due diligence.

Monitor and interpret regulatory changes; ensure timely updates to policies, controls, and business practices.

Serve as the primary point of contact for future SEC examinations, deficiency letters, and regulatory inquiries once registration is complete, including leading all readiness activities.

Governance & Risk Mitigation

Chair or participate in relevant governance committees, ensuring compliance is embedded into strategic decision-making.

Oversee compliance for trade allocation, best execution, fee billing, and service provider/vendor due diligence.

Lead the annual enterprise compliance review and report outcomes to the Board and executive leadership.

Collaboration & Influence

Partner with Legal, Finance, Operations, Capital Formation, and other internal teams to ensure compliance policies are practical and aligned with business objectives.

Evaluate new products, services, and market entries for compliance implications prior to launch.

Education & Culture

Lead enterprise-wide compliance training programs to ensure employees understand their obligations and foster a culture of accountability.

Promote Core’s cultural values through ethical leadership and transparent communication.

Other

Occasional travel as needed.

Perform all other duties and tasks as assigned by executive leadership.

Education & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Accounting, Law, or related field; advanced degree or JD preferred.

15+ years of experience in compliance, legal, or risk management roles within financial services, investment management, or real estate investment firms.

Demonstrated success serving as a CCO or senior compliance leader in an organization preparing for or operating under SEC oversight.

Proven track record of building and leading enterprise compliance programs.

Expert knowledge of RIA requirements, SEC regulations, and operational due diligence.

Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence and build relationships at the executive and Board level.

Preferred Experience

Leading an organization through an RIA registration or similar regulatory transformation.

Operating within private equity, real estate investment, or fund management environments.

Balancing compliance rigor with business innovation.

Serving as a visible, credible, and trusted executive partner across the enterprise.

Compensation Pay Range: USD 175,000 - 250,000 per year

Discretionary annual bonus up to 25% and Long-Term Performance Incentive Plan up to 10%.

Compensation disclosures: base salary may vary based on education, experience, skills, certifications, seniority, geographic location, and business needs. Benefits may include health insurance, retirement plans, paid time off, and other role-based offerings.

All compensation components are subject to change based on business needs or market conditions.
