Business Development Leader – Life Sciences at Cooley LLP. Cooley is seeking a Business Development Leader to join the Marketing & Business Development team to support the Life Sciences practice. Position summary:
The Business Development Leader works closely with the Associate Director of Business Development to execute on the team plan. The Business Development Leader is expected to also work closely with shared analyst resources to provide timely and insightful reporting that supports and enhances the team plan. Position responsibilities
Develop advanced knowledge of the startup and venture ecosystem and how the services of the firm benefit and relate to the industry Use data to monitor, evaluate, develop and prioritize prospects and leads Build a pipeline of targets, then actively and strategically pursue these targets Monitor client activity and identify points of engagement with clients that add value Establish credibility and build communities with internal and external stakeholders Represent the firm at various in-market events, conferences, and other networking activities Keep abreast of broader market trends Maintain knowledge about the department as well as points of intersection with other departments Work between the various internal systems to decipher opportunity status, relationship mapping, and qualify a prospect Collaborate closely with practice group, regional and core marketing teams Identify areas for continued process improvement and efficiency by generating innovative ideas and solutions All other duties as assigned or required Skills and experience
Required: After orientation at Cooley LLP, exhibit proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite, iManage, Salesforce, and other firm applications Ability to work extended and/or weekend hours, as required Ability to travel, as required 5+ years directly applicable experience in the field Familiarity with the startup and venture industry Experience in sales, including inbound and outbound strategies Preferred: Bachelor’s degree Prior legal industry experience Competencies
Ability to balance time, and focus across multiple projects as needed Display a solution-oriented approach including being able to look at data points and transform information into actionable insights and reports Able to balance the needs of multiple stakeholders at the same time Promote an environment that supports cohesive, effective, and respectful working relationships Cooley offers a competitive compensation and excellent benefits package and is committed to fair and equitable employment practices. EOE. The expected annual pay range for this position with a full-time schedule is $165,000 - $235,000. Final offer amount will depend on geographic location, applicable experience and skillset of the candidate. We offer a full range of elective benefits including medical, health savings account, dental, vision, health and/or dependent care flexible spending accounts, pre-tax commuter benefits, life insurance, AD&D, long-term care coverage, backup care for children and/or adults and other parental support benefits.
