The Manager I of Engineering plays a key leadership role, directly managing a small team of software engineers. This role is responsible for ensuring timely delivery of high-quality software projects, fostering a collaborative and inclusive team culture, and supporting the professional growth of engineers. In addition to leading day-to-day execution, this manager contributes to tactical decision-making, participates in architectural discussions, and ensures engineering efforts are aligned with project goals. They collaborate closely with product, design, and cross-functional stakeholders to deliver solutions that support Syniti’s broader mission. What you will do
Manage and support a team of software engineers, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within scope. Provide coaching, mentorship, and regular performance feedback to support individual growth. Guide the team in applying engineering best practices, including code reviews, testing, and secure development. Participate in architectural and technical design discussions, ensuring sound engineering decisions. Collaborate closely with product and cross-functional teams to align priorities and deliver value. Help shape a positive and inclusive team culture that fosters engagement, learning, and innovation. Identify and address delivery risks, blockers, or process gaps within the team’s scope. Contribute to hiring and onboarding of new engineers, and support team scaling efforts. What it takes
Proven experience as a team lead or first-line engineering manager in a software development environment. Strong technical foundation in modern software development (e.g., C#, Go, React, TypeScript, AWS). Familiarity with agile development methodologies, DevOps practices, and software delivery processes. Excellent communication and collaboration skills across technical and non-technical stakeholders. Demonstrated ability to coach, mentor, and support the growth of engineering team members. Experience participating in technical design, architecture reviews, and secure development practices. Comfortable working in a fast-paced, distributed, and cross-functional environment. What we offer
