The Principal eCommerce Architect requires extensive web and app development experience. This leader will focus on delivering applications across the eCommerce landscape in support of Carter’s large-scale eCommerce business. The ideal candidate has led delivery of React-based web applications for large businesses, leveraging serverless infrastructure and modern web tooling. This role reports to the Senior Director, eCommerce & Marketing Technology and is based in our Buckhead office, onsite 3-4 days a week. Responsibilities

eCommerce IT Development Delivery (50%): Define the detail of CI/CD strategy and partner with the development team to engineer a deployment process that ensures quality standards are met while supporting agile development cycles. Define timelines for larger initiatives and align on plans to deliver against committed timelines. Jump into delivery if problems prove to be difficult for engineers and ensure deadlines are met. Review quality and security standards to be met by development delivery. Provide oversight of technical decisions and delivery with a focus on performance and speed to delivery. Solve complex technical problems and communicate the solution to non-technical management and peers. eCommerce IT Strategy and Architecture (25%): Possess in-depth experience and knowledge of web architecture, including implementing multiple headless web applications leveraging static site generators, server-side rendering, or headless CMS. Be a strong voice in architectural choices across the retail landscape. Weigh in on technical direction and tools utilized across the enterprise. eCommerce Production Support and Maintenance (25%): Deliver high quality production support and maintenance service levels 365/24/7, particularly during times of high volume and peak order processing. Lead and/or participate in outage calls and Root Cause Analysis for production problems. Define processes for how support is managed, including on-call schedules of the team and incident response. Qualifications

Must Have: Bachelor’s degree in computer science or engineering or equivalent experience. Strong architectural, design, analytical, and communication skills; understanding of SDLC, Agile methodology, and PCI Compliance. Knowledge of professional software engineering practices and best practices for the full SDLC including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations. Self-assured with a professional approach; able to work under pressure toward tight deadlines; willingness to learn and grow. Preferred Skills and Experience: 10+ years web technology experience with progressively more responsible roles; 8+ years as a delivery lead; experience with multi-tier web development, and mobile app development or Content Management customization is preferred.
