Overview Graphic Designer (Hybrid in D.C.) – U.S. Green Building Council

Base pay range: $68,000.00/yr - $78,000.00/yr. This range is provided by USGBC. Your actual pay will be based on your skills and experience — talk with your recruiter to learn more.

How You’ll Make An Impact As a

Graphic Designer , you’ll own our brand identity and product experiences, driving initiatives to support internal stakeholders and elevate visual communications across the organization. The consistent brand identity and clear visual storytelling you provide will help USGBC stand out as an authority in the green building space.

You’ll report to the

Art Director

and be part of a collaborative global marketing team where your contributions shape impactful outcomes. You will drive the visual strategy and brand identity for a global organization with a product presence in over 175 countries.

Key Responsibilities

Create engaging digital designs for web, social media, email, and other digital channels; ensure designs are optimized for various platforms and screen sizes.

Apply branding concepts across environmental touchpoints and event experiences.

Develop logos and provide brand strategy; conduct research, distill core essence into a cohesive visual language, and ensure brand equity.

Support social media content with on-brand graphics and videos; collaborate with communications to resonate with the target audience.

Design internal presentation templates adhering to brand guidelines.

Layout reports and multi-page publications with effective data visualization while maintaining brand integrity.

Research design trends and collaborate cross-functionally to develop visual solutions that support business goals and brand consistency.

Interview Preparation As part of the interview process, candidates advancing to the Hiring Manager Interview will be asked to share work samples.

Required Qualifications

At least 4 years of recent client-side design experience

Experience in a multinational business with a diverse product portfolio

At least 4 years of professional experience using Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign

Experience using AI tools to support design work and design thinking

Experience maintaining brand consistency in a global organization or fast-moving startup; ability to design for various regions

Education

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in graphic design, visual communications, or related field. Software certifications do not substitute for a design degree.

Technology / Systems

Proficient in Adobe Creative Cloud

Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint

Proficient or experienced with Canva

Familiar with project management tools like Asana

Experience implementing or guiding UX/UI best practices

Knowledge of the print/publication process from design to delivery

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Experience with digital asset management

Skills

Strong conceptual and creative thinking; translate abstract ideas into visual narratives

Strong typography and layout skills; create clean and visually engaging designs

Responsive design and optimization for various devices

Collaborative project management; manage multiple design projects and meet deadlines

English

Salary & Benefits Final compensation and benefits will be confirmed at the time of offer and may vary by internal equity, experience, qualifications, and status. Salary negotiations will be within the stated range.

Location & Schedule Location: Hybrid in the Washington, D.C. area with occasional onsite meetings at the HQ in Washington, DC.

Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM EST
