Overview
Job Title: Electrical Engineering Specialist (Substation) Job Description: Creates moderate to highly complex designs of electric master system plans, power system, protection and generation models, facility power systems, sustainability/renewable energy systems, and other similar electrical systems. Executives a variety of electrical design assignments using prescribed methods and standard techniques including drawing sequence and presentation, sizing various system components, and refining rough sketches. Incorporates changes to designs or sketches and redlines or mark-ups on ongoing projects. Contributes to studies of power systems and electrical calculations for electrical systems, lighting simulations, lighting layouts, communications, fire alarm, security and other similar calculations. Performs site reviews and studies to ensure designs are aligned with location specifications. Updates design requirements as necessary. Collaborates with sales staff to create proposals in response to current and potential client requests for proposal (RFPs). Attends conferences and symposia to improve the visibility of the firm\'s products and services in collaboration with applicable sales staff. Provides technical guidance and training to more junior staff and mentors for future growth within the discipline and firm. Performs other duties as required. Responsibilities
Designs electric master system plans, power systems, protection and generation models, facility power systems, sustainability/renewable energy systems, and similar electrical systems. Executes electrical design assignments using prescribed methods and standard techniques, including drawing sequence and presentation, sizing components, and refining rough sketches. Incorporates changes to designs or sketches and redlines or mark-ups on ongoing projects. Contributes to studies of power systems and electrical calculations, lighting simulations, lighting layouts, communications, fire alarm, security and other similar calculations. Performs site reviews and studies to ensure designs align with location specifications; updates design requirements as necessary. Contributes to the firm\'s Technical Knowledge Management (TKM) by developing white papers and technical design documentation of new or special case designs and studies. Collaborates with sales staff to create proposals in response to current and potential client requests for proposal (RFPs). Reviews draft proposals for adherence to firm, industry, state, local and federal regulations and best practices; meets with current and potential future clients to review their design needs. Attends conferences and symposia to improve the visibility of the firm\'s products and services in collaboration with applicable sales staff. Provides technical guidance and training to more junior staff; mentors for future growth within the discipline and firm. Performs other duties as required. Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor\'s degree; 7 years of related experience. Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a college degree. Domestic and/or international travel may be required; frequency depends on duties and project demands. Preferred Qualifications:
Experience leading substation engineering projects through 345kV; proficiency in protective relay schemes and creating relay schematics/wiring diagrams; expertise in specifying and selecting electrical equipment including SCADA/RTU hardware; familiarity with NESC and NEC standards; knowledge of substation grounding grid design and lightning protection systems. Minimum $81,765 — Maximum $134,909 Additional Compensation:
