The Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce is a borough-wide membership and economic development organization dedicated to helping businesses through four channels — promotion, support, advocacy and convening. The Brooklyn Chamber and its affiliate organizations provide direct business support services, technical assistance and programs to help Brooklyn businesses grow. The Vice President for Membership and Events is an integral part of the Brooklyn Chamber leadership team, supporting excellence in event production and membership administration. The Chamber serves a roster of over 1,500 members and hosts signature events including the Black History Month Celebration, Economic Development Breakfast, Asian Heritage Month Event & Night Market, Energy Summit, Non-Profit Summit and the Annual Meeting & Winter Gala.

Qualifications

5+ years of event management or membership association leadership experience, ideally within a nonprofit, association, or economic development organization.

Proven ability to craft and execute strategic plans that deliver measurable results.

Demonstrated leadership in building sustainable relationships with diverse stakeholders.

Excels in problem-solving, innovation, and managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Adept at building consensus amongst internal and external stakeholders.

Proficiency with social media platforms, digital marketing, and CRM systems.

Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

Strong sales, negotiation, and persuasion abilities.

Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, and occasional weekends as needed.

Responsibilities

Develop and lead innovative membership acquisition and retention strategies, enhancing value propositions to increase recruitment and loyalty.

Serve as the principal liaison for members, prospects, sponsors, vendors, and venue partners to ensure seamless and productive collaborations.

Oversee a comprehensive events program, including conceptualization, planning, logistics, promotion, sponsorship sales, and post-event evaluation; events include annual signature events, networking and informational events.

Collaborate with the finance team to manage budgets, analyze financial performance of membership and events, and ensure strategic use of resources.

Drive targeted outreach efforts through social media, digital marketing, and personalized engagement to boost event attendance and revenue streams.

Maintain a database of boroughwide event venues and locations that can be leveraged to support Brooklyn Chamber activities.

Support event communications, including development of promotional collateral and post-event reporting.

Manage and optimize the membership database, ensuring data accuracy to support strategic decision-making.

Directly manage the Membership Manager, providing leadership, guidance, and support to strengthen membership engagement efforts and meet KPIs.

Represent the organization externally on relevant boards, committees and stakeholder meetings; report to the board of directors on department activities as needed.

Contribute to special projects and initiatives as directed by the President & CEO.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary Range $135,000 to $150,000 depending on experience. Full benefits package. An EEO employer.
