Overview
Director Communications & Marketing, Institute for Policy Solutions (IPS) – Johns Hopkins University. Plan, design, implement and manage communications, marketing, earned media, owned media and paid media strategy for the IPS division, advancing division initiatives and shaping the communications strategy, message and brand across local, state, national and/or global levels. Collaborates with faculty, staff, students, central communications & marketing teams and other media departments to ensure a comprehensive and coherent dissemination of materials. Responsible for accurate representation of the division across media platforms, budget development, and fiscal approval of communications and media-related projects. Specific Duties & Responsibilities
Provide vision, leadership, and counsel for the Initiative’s communications, including articulating and overseeing an integrated communications plan. Develop and implement a stakeholder communications strategy to share the Initiative’s work with funders, school leadership, industry partners, policymakers and other key audiences. Identify strategic communication opportunities with internal and external partners; develop benchmark criteria to track and evaluate effectiveness of communications strategies. Oversee visibility, branding, and promotion of the school/division/center through online and print media, radio/TV and other channels. Create and oversee original content across platforms and channels. Provide consultation to senior leadership, faculty and staff on communications and marketing strategies and concerns. Formulate and manage a comprehensive media relations strategy at local, state, and national levels across print, television, and social media. Establish policies and procedures for communications and marketing; identify and implement effective approaches. Direct communications and marketing research to inform leadership decisions. Evaluate the effectiveness of efforts and implement changes and best practices. Foster relationships with media outlets; may have national and international scope. Collaborate with development staff on fundraising materials. Manage professional staff and budget for the department; oversee budget implementation and fiscal approvals of projects; develop and manage external contracts. Perform other related duties as requested. Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Marketing, or related field. Ten years of related experience. Additional education or related experience may substitute for required education/experience as permitted by Johns Hopkins University equivalency formula. Preferred Qualifications
