Manage complex transmission, substation, distribution, gas, and/or information technology projects with cross-functional teams across multiple disciplines and operating areas, including contract resources. Responsible for managing scope, schedule, budget and safety performance of multiple projects and programs. Lead project teams through business case/capital approval, development and execution of project plans, and project closeout. Budgets typically range from $1 million to $60 million. May manage high-profile initiatives with direct accountability for project execution within given timeframes and with limited resources. Position may be required to work extended hours for coverage during storms or energy delivery emergencies. Primary Duties
Manage large and/or highly complex and often unique projects using established project management principles. Directly accountable to deliver projects on time and at or below budget. Interface with external customers for transmission and substation projects, including presentation of billable costs and negotiation of schedules. Collaborate with other project managers, work management, and functional managers to optimize resource utilization. Serve as primary communicator with project sponsor and key stakeholders, including executive-level presentations. Acquire and manage contract resources by participating in contractor selection, preparing requisitions, approving change orders and contract payments, and evaluating contractor performance. Lead and coach team members to improve performance and mentor less experienced colleagues. Acquire zoning variations and permits for large projects by presenting details to city zoning boards and public hearings. Perform backup role for Manager Project Management. Job Scope
The Project Manager is an individual contributor accountable for project budgets, team performance and developing strategic plans to implement projects for various organizations. Responsibilities include managing scope, budget and schedule within approved parameters and providing structured reports to management. Tasks may include business cases, budget approvals, project scheduling, requirements engineering, design and engineering tasks, environmental analysis, procurement, stakeholder management with customers, vendors, townships and regulatory agencies, project quality assurance, and change management. Interacts with senior management, key customers, and regulatory officials. May manage a portfolio of active projects or annual programs. Minimum Qualifications
For construction project management: Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field and 7-10 years relevant experience, or in lieu of Bachelor's degree, 9-12 years of relevant experience. For non-construction project management: Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, or related field and 7-10 years relevant experience, or 9-12 years in lieu of degree. Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or ability to obtain PMP within two years of entering the role. Proficiency in planning and control, issue and risk management, project management tools, business case development, and progress reporting. Proven leadership ability in a high-performance culture; ability to build consensus and communicate effectively; accountability for results. Valid driver’s license and access to an automobile. Preferred Qualifications
3-5 years of supervisory experience (manager roles). Master’s degree in engineering or business administration. Professional Engineer (PE) license. Experience or knowledge in related functional areas (e.g., utility design/planning/construction or IT). Benefits
Annual salary range: $114,400.00/Yr. – $157,300.00/Yr. (varies by skills and experience) Annual bonus eligibility (e.g., 20%). 401(k) match and company contributions.
