Overview
The Manager, Epic Revenue Cycle is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day management and support of assigned Epic modules at Children's National Hospital. This role ensures the effective implementation, maintenance, and optimization of Epic applications to support clinical and operational workflows. Responsibilities
Reporting to the Director of Epic Revenue Cycle Applications, lead a team of analysts, providing guidance on system enhancements, issue resolution, and user support. Lead change management, system upgrades, and process improvements to ensure technology meets evolving organizational needs. Education
Bachelor\'s degree from a recognized college or university with major coursework in computer science, Information Technology, engineering, or equivalent related experience. Master\'s Degree Preferred Experience
Five years of progressive experience in health information technology or healthcare operations, focusing on revenue cycle front-end workflows (e.g., patient registration, scheduling, referral management) and/or back-end workflows (e.g., hospital billing, professional billing, charge capture, HIM and Coding). Minimum of three years in a leadership or senior systems support role, overseeing Epic applications and collaborating with operational stakeholders to optimize performance, workflow alignment, and end-user adoption. Certifications
Epic Certification (required to be obtained and maintained for the assigned area within 6 weeks of completing training, if not already obtained prior to hire). Preferred: Project Management (PMP), ITIL, Lean Six Sigma, Change Management Required Skills/Knowledge
Epic System Expertise – Strong understanding of Epic functionality, modules, and healthcare workflows; ability to configure and optimize Epic applications. Communication & Stakeholder Engagement – Excellent verbal and written communication; ability to articulate technical concepts to diverse audiences. Problem-Solving & Proactive Solutioning – Proactive issue identification and actionable solution development. Advisory & Guidance – Provide guidance to technical teams and business leaders to align Epic applications with strategic priorities. Collaboration & Influence – Cross-functional collaboration and ability to influence stakeholders. Change Management & Adaptability – Manage change and ensure smooth adoption of updates with minimal disruption. Leadership & Team Development – Lead and mentor analysts; support professional growth. Process Improvement – Apply Lean/Six Sigma principles to optimize workflows and system performance. Customer-Focused Approach – Understand end-user needs and translate requirements into effective solutions. Functional Accountability
People Management & Team Leadership – Lead and develop a team of Epic analysts and specialists. Mentoring & Team Development – Coach team members toward continuous learning and accountability. Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration – Partner with clinical, revenue cycle, and operational leaders to deliver tech solutions. Data-Driven Decision Making – Use Epic analytics to support business intelligence and operational insights. Strategic Responsibilities
Product Ownership & Strategy – Serve as product owner for assigned Epic applications and drive value delivery. SDLC Management – Oversee requirements, design, testing, deployment, and ongoing optimization of Epic applications. Roadmap Development & Execution – Create and maintain a strategic roadmap for assigned Epic modules. Issue Resolution & Root Cause Analysis – Own Epic-related issues, investigate, and implement preventive measures. Change Leadership & Transformation
Change Leadership & Adoption – Lead change management for system updates and enhancements. Continuous Process Improvement – Identify opportunities to streamline workflows and improve usability using Kaizen, Lean, or Six Sigma. Governance & Decision-Making – Support Epic governance; ensure adherence to standards and policies. Additional Details
