We are seeking an experienced Construction Accounting Manager for a full-time position. This is not a training position — applicants must have direct, hands-on experience in construction accounting, including progress billings, certified payroll, union payroll, WIP reporting, and job cost tracking. This is a working supervisory role responsible for overseeing daily accounting operations and collaborating closely with the CFO and project managers. You will supervise accounting staff, review all financial entries, and ensure billing and payroll are executed timely and accurately.

Accounting Supervision & Oversight:
Lead the daily operations of the accounting team, including A/R, A/P, payroll, and general ledger activities. Review all entries for accuracy and policy compliance. Billing & Job Tracking:
Collaborate directly with project managers to review monthly billings, reconcile contract values and change orders, and ensure job tracking and cost allocations are accurate and up to date. Certified & Union Payroll:
Oversee and review weekly certified payroll and union wage submissions. Ensure 100% compliance with prevailing wage regulations and union agreements. WIP Reporting & Job Costing:
Assist the CFO with monthly WIP reports, ensuring accurate job performance tracking and budget-to-actual comparisons. Maintain consistent and timely updates to job cost data. Month-End Close:
Lead the month-end and year-end close processes, reviewing journal entries, reconciling key accounts, and preparing financial statements. Process Improvement:
Identify inefficiencies in workflows and recommend improvements. Help implement updated procedures, internal controls, and system enhancements. Audit Readiness & Compliance:
Ensure documentation is audit-ready and that all reporting follows GAAP, tax guidelines, and internal policies. Qualifications
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
Minimum 5 years of experience in construction accounting

Prior experience with: Certified payroll
Union payroll
Progress billings (AIA format, GC Pay, Textura)
WIP reporting and job costing
Proficiency with construction accounting software (e.g., Sage 100 Contractor, Construction Partner)
Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, filters)
Excellent organizational, time management, and problem-solving abilities
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Proven ability to work independently and supervise a small accounting team
Attributes
Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus
Experience with multi-state payroll and union labor compliance
Exposure to audit preparation and year-end reporting
