Job Summary The Logistics Specialist – Morocco is responsible for managing all aspects of inbound, outbound, and intra-country transportation and logistics operations. Key responsibilities include facilitating customs clearance, coordinating shipment receipts, and ensuring smooth logistical flow across the region. This role collaborates cross-functionally to drive operational excellence and meet key performance indicators (KPIs).
The ideal candidate will work closely with internal and external stakeholders to execute logistics tasks efficiently and effectively. This position demands a seasoned logistics professional who can respond with urgency and precision to support dynamic business needs.
Success in this role requires a proactive self-starter with a strong work ethic, a collaborative mindset, and a positive, solution-oriented attitude. The Logistics Specialist must be dependable, adaptable, and committed to contributing as a valued team member.
Summary of Essential Job Functions The essential functions listed below are representative of the functions that must be performed to satisfy the purpose of the position. Additional functions and duties may be assumed or assigned from time to time.
Provide direction in all phases of logistics, including international logistics and dangerous goods, prepare and maintain information and documentary records.
Responsible for all shipping related activities and tasks.
Communicate with freight vendors; follow up on shipments, and coordinate transport issues with carriers/suppliers and internal customers around the world.
Generate and review reports for advanced notice of shipment volumes.
Resolve obstacles that could potentially cause delays of shipments.
Responsible for all training and certification requirements to support logistics operations
Responsible for completing and verifying that all shipments have been processed and picked up by transportation carriers.
Negotiating Logistics Service Contracts and Pricing Agreements for transportation needs.
Ensure accurate shipment labeling and documentation for domestic and international shipments.
Establish carrier performance standards & audit delivery performances for all providers.
Verify shipments were delivered in a timely manner and communicate with Operations, Accounting, and Project Managers regarding status of orders.
Monitor supply of shipping materials required to execute import and export shipments.
Bring regulatory compliance questions/ issues to the attention of management.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and/or abilities required to satisfactorily perform the essential functions of this job.
Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university in Supply Chain, Logistics, Engineering, Business, or equivalent degree.
2-5 years of international export logistics experience with hazardous or dangerous goods.
Experience in negotiating transportation and 3PL services.
Excellent knowledge of IATA, DOT UN-Packaging for shipping and storing requirements and import requirements.
Understanding of GHS, HTS and NMFC codes.
Detailed knowledge of INCOTERMS 2010 and newer.
Ability to develop and maintain shipping/receiving metrics (i.e. supplies, transit time, shipper performance, etc.).
Interpersonal skills required for working efficiently and effectively with peers, subordinates, suppliers, client logistics departments and others.
Demonstrated sense of urgency as it relates to shipping and “hot” shipments and appropriate communication internally to stakeholders and externally with freight suppliers.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, Outlook).
Special Requirements
Must speak both French and English fluently, Arabic is a plus
Certified for Dangerous Goods Shipments (IATA, IMDG and local Moroccan regulations)
