THE COLLEGE : The Mary Frances Early College of Education (MFE COE), one of the nations largest colleges of education, consistently ranks in the top ten national Elementary Education and Curriculum and Instruction programs. The College offers significant possibilities for interdisciplinary research collaborations, program development, and school-community partnerships. The colleges Research Office provides strong pre- and post-award grant support. The College is named for the University of Georgias first African American graduate, a pioneering educator who played an integral role in the campaign for racial equality in Georgia and across the South. The department and college are recognized leaders in developing partnerships with local communities and schools to provide pre-service and in-service professional development, and to expand students experiential learning and service-learning opportunities.

As the 4th largest public college of education in the country and the 3rd largest college at UGA, the Mary Frances Early College of Education (MFE COE) improves the lives of residents of Georgia and beyond through our instruction, research, and service. The MFE COE is a comprehensive college with disciplines focused on teacher preparation, counseling and human development, communication sciences, human movement sciences, career development, student affairs, and educational administration and policy. We place significant emphasis on graduate education with approximately 40% of our students at the graduate level, making us the second largest college at UGA with respect to graduate education.

THE DEPARTMENT : The Department of Kinesiology has 30 full?time faculty members and offers B.S., M.S., M.S.A.T., and Ph.D. programs in the academic areas of athletic training, sport management, exercise science, and health and physical education. Department faculty members are nationally and internationally recognized for their scholarly accomplishments, teaching excellence, and service to their professional disciplines. An earned doctorate (Ph.D. or equivalent) in Health & Physical Education, Sport Pedagogy, Kinesiology, or a closely related field of study by the start date of the position. Position Summary:

The Department of Kinesiology at the University of Georgia invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure-track position at the rank of Lecturer in the area of Health and Physical Education (HPE)/Sport Pedagogy, to begin August 1, 2026. The Department seeks to hire a motivated faculty member with teaching experience across a variety of HPE and sport coaching-related courses. The Department is open to applicants from a variety of specializations, including, but not limited to, teacher education and sport coaching education.

Responsibilities :

Teach undergraduate and graduate HPE and sport pedagogy classes (face-to-face) within the current program curriculum. The teaching load consists of seven three-credit sections (21 credit hours) across the academic year. Supervise physical education teacher candidates in student teaching placements. Provide high-quality educational assistance to individual students. Contribute to service activities at the program, department, college, and university levels, when requested. Provide programmatic, technological, and pedagogical support to the PEDB Program.

This position is contingent on the continued availability of funding. Additional Requirements:

An earned doctorate (Ph.D. or equivalent) in Health & Physical Education, Sport Pedagogy, Kinesiology, or a closely related field of study by the start date of the position. Ability to effectively teach a variety of undergraduate and graduate courses in the current HPE/Sport Pedagogy curriculum. Demonstrated communication, organizational, and technological skills.

Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, and/or Certification:

Evidence of extensive professional background in college/university teaching.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies:

Evidence of innovative professional teaching methods. Evidence of ability to establish and cultivate partnerships with local schools and school districts. Ability to demonstrate strong evidence of, and commitment to, teaching excellence and student learning.
