Volunteer with the Ronald McDonald House of Scranton At the Ronald McDonald House of Scranton, our mission is simple yet powerful - to keep families close to their children while they receive critical care in regional medical facilities. We may not be able to make medicine taste better, but we do create meaningful spaces, provide home-cooked meals, and offer compassionate support to families during some of their most challenging moments. For nearly forty years, every service we offer has been completely free to the families we serve. From our long-stay bed-and-breakfast style House to our three in-hospital Family Room programs, we provide lodging, nutritious meals, transportation assistance, Wi-Fi, snacks, emotional support, and personal connections that make a difference. Our hospital visitation program reaches families in the ICU, NICU, Mom and Baby, and Pediatric Units, ensuring they receive the care, supplies, and encouragement they need. We are also growing. We recently signed partnership agreement with Allied Services to open a Ronald McDonald House Family Room at the Pediatric Rehabilitation and Therapy Center on Morgan Highway. This beautiful new 2,500-square-foot space will serve more than 1,500 families each year with a full kitchen, home-like seating, and work and education areas - just steps from their child’s care. Ways to Volunteer We welcome individuals, groups, and organizations to partner with us in a variety of hands-on ways: Event Support:

Help at our annual 5K race this September 21st and other special events throughout the year. Tasks may include registration, water stations, cheering on participants, set-up, and clean-up.

Meal Preparation:

Cook and serve nutritious home-cooked meals for our guest families at the House. This can be done by individuals, families, or groups.

Housekeeping:

Assist with light cleaning, laundry, and organizing to help keep our House comfortable and welcoming.

Clerical & Administrative Support:

Help with mailings, data entry, and other office tasks that keep our programs running smoothly.

Hospital Program Support:

Assemble go bags, stock snacks, and assist with special projects for our in-hospital Family Room programs.
