Board Chair About Compass Rose International Compass Rose International is a nonprofit organization committed to advancing mental wellness, economic opportunity, and INpowerment for girls in Nepal and Colorado. We believe in creating community-led solutions that spark generational change, with a focus on education, self-development, and regenerative living. Through international partnerships and transformative programs, we help young women discover their purpose and True North. Position Overview The Secretary of the Board plays a vital governance role in ensuring the integrity and efficiency of board operations. As Secretary, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate records, facilitating communication among board members, and supporting the overall effectiveness of Compass Rose International’s mission-driven leadership. This is a
volunteer
position ideal for someone who is highly organized, values service, and wants to support global impact through collaborative nonprofit governance.
Key Responsibilities Meeting Management Schedule and organize quarterly board meetings (and special meetings as needed)
Prepare and distribute meeting agendas in coordination with the Board Chair and Executive Director
Record accurate minutes for all board meetings and ensure timely distribution
Documentation & Record-Keeping Maintain a permanent record of board minutes, bylaws, resolutions, and other official documents
Ensure organizational compliance with legal and ethical standards in record-keeping and board governance
Communication & Coordination Serve as the primary liaison for internal board communication
Notify members of upcoming meetings and deadlines
Assist with board member onboarding by maintaining orientation materials
Support to the Chair & Executive Director Provide administrative support to the Chair and Executive Director in board-related matters
Help coordinate any required signatures, approvals, or governance documents
Qualifications Prior experience on a board or in an administrative/secretarial role (preferred but not required)
Passion for international development, girls’ education, and gender equity
Strong organizational skills with keen attention to detail
Excellent verbal and written communication
Comfortable with Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Calendar) and virtual meeting platforms (e.g., Zoom)
Integrity, discretion, and a collaborative spirit
Time Commitment Approx. 5-8 hours per month
Attendance at all board meetings (quarterly), with occasional subcommittee meetings or strategic planning sessions
