Software Engineer, Machine Learning (Infrastructure) at Glean — a company building an AI-powered knowledge management platform to help teams find, organize, and share information efficiently. Our product combines enterprise-grade search, an AI assistant, and tooling for building applications and agents to redefine how employees work. About the Role: Glean is looking for engineers to help build the world’s best search and assistant product for work. Our engineers work on a range of systems across the stack, including generative AI, RAG, query understanding, document understanding, domain-adapted language models, natural language question-answering, evaluation, and experimentation. We interact regularly with customers to understand their pain points and solve their problems with appropriate tooling. Responsibilities
Design, build, and improve ML systems and data pipelines infrastructure Collaborate with other ML engineers focused on modeling Write robust, readable, maintainable, and testable code Mentor junior engineers or learn from experienced teammates Qualifications
5+ years of experience BA/BS in computer science, math, sciences, or a related field Experience with ML infrastructure for search, recommendation, NLP, or related areas Proven ability to design, build, and ship production-ready software, ideally around ML infrastructure (pipelines, serving, GenAI) Strong experience with Apache Spark and building, scaling, and operating large batch data pipelines Thrives in a customer-focused, cross-functional environment; a collaborative team player Proactive, positive, and able to lead, learn, troubleshoot, and own both small tasks and large features Location
Hybrid role (3-4 days a week in one of our SF Bay Area offices) Compensation and Benefits
The standard base salary range for this position is $200,000 - $280,000 annually. Compensation may include variable compensation, equity, and benefits depending on location, level, knowledge, skills, and experience. We offer a comprehensive benefits package including Medical, Vision, and Dental coverage, generous time-off, and 401k with company matching.
