Global Head of Tropical Crops Product Strategy. The role is global and focused on tropical crops with significant travel to tropical markets in Asia, Africa, and Latin America. Duties
Collect inputs / trends from region/global to shape the long-term crop strategy of tropical vegetable crops. Act as project leader and cross-functional convenor for these crops on global initiatives. Define IP strategy metrics. Provide strategic guidance and collaborate with stakeholders/counterparts for product-centric teams in Production & Supply, Finance and Research & Development. Secure a clear strategic segmentation of the portfolio between customer segments. Own the global Target Product Profiles for the crop mega-segments. Prioritize traits and breeding program resource allocation across regions & customer segments. Drive to close portfolio gaps and opportunities to address alliances and licensing (in close collaboration with the growth team). Set global portfolio thresholds to drive profitability and new product introduction success. Qualifications
Education: A degree in agriculture, agronomy, or a related field. Experience: A minimum of five years in the seed business and/or crop marketing including research, commercialization, production, and/or supply chain management. Understanding of vegetable seeds, preferably in tropical growing environments. Knowledge of sustainable agriculture practices and their impact on crop production, environmental sustainability, and profitability. Financial acumen: ability to manage budgets, forecast revenue, and analyze financial data to ensure profitability. Strategic thinking: ability to develop and implement long-term crop strategies that align with company goals. Leadership: ability to lead cross-functional teams and motivate team members to achieve goals. Customer focus: ability to understand customer needs and develop crop portfolios that meet those needs.
